Tea from another angle
the pages where it shows tea plantations in Japan and in Vietnam, and in Indonesia... Well, I know someone who used to work for a tea plantation and production right here where I am, right here in West Java Indonesia. He said that tea where we are growing right here are not well developed even if this whole country consisting of thousands of islands and hundreds of millions of people drink tea for granted, and the book implies just as this person who once worked with tea industry and left due to no attraction within the business he said, not a bit of glamour... I suppose we all need a bit of pride in whatever we do right? And so, I was glad to have the book (which is kind of sophisticated or quite glamorously put together), and give it as a birthday present for my sister, well, since both of us love tea so much and take pride in having tea times and some sort of high tea moments from time to time...Thank you,Novi

Beautiful coffee table (or tea table
Beautiful coffee table (or tea table?) book about the history of tea and the french company Marriage Freres. Lush photos, and very descriptive. Now, it does read like a big propaganda book for the tea company, but if get past the self serving comments, it's a terrific book about tea.

Seized by a cup of Darjeeling and an unexpected love affair
Luckily for me, Father Christmas paid for it! The price was eye-watering, for me at least.A few days holiday and a couple of thirst-driven visits to tea rooms in Boulogne and Wimereux, France, were all it took for me to realise that Mariage Freres teas were nothing at all like the disappointing teas which were all I'd ever encountered at home in the UK. These were a revelation! The taste was sufficiently captivating that, for the first time in more than 60 years, I not only enjoyed a cup of Darjeeling, I longed for the next one!Mariage teas are not cheap but they are without doubt the finest teas I've ever tasted and I now buy some each year as a special treat for myself. At least they are less expensive than wine. It was on that basis that I wanted to know something more about this company, possibly the French equivalent of Fortnum & Mason, Jacksons or Harrods. The book, which is lavishly illustrated, makes fascinating reading. I haven't read all of it yet, but I turn to it regularly for reference as well as for reading pleasure. If you have a love of tea and its history (I know, that makes me sound like an obsessive), then this may well be the book for you. Look for a good second-hand copy, then buy it while you can!

This is a beautifully packaged and quality made book start to finish
This is a beautifully packaged and quality made book start to finish, what a nice surprise. Wonderful as a gift for your tea loving friends and family. I have been to Mariage Freres in Paris and the wonderful pictures and stories brought back great memories of our trip. This book is wonderful value and for tea lovers of Mariage Freres a must have. Bought one for myself and two others for good friends who I know will love this. Wish we could buy the MF tea and wonderful tea accessories also at amazon.ca. Still ordering direct from MF Paris.
