comforting
It was comforting to read. Not particularly cathartic, but still comforting. I have a child with mild autism, ADD and severe OCD and a need to control everything and everyone around him. It's a little different but a lot of the end result of the behavior present similarly but without the deception and cruelty. I was hoping for more of a daily prescription, but alas, this is a slice of real life. The moral of the story seems to be hope that your kid enjoys something enough at some point and is able to focus on and be motivated by that enjoyment enough to become functional. And be lucky enough to meet the right people (and as a parent, be smart about potential opportunities as they crop up).

I'm not the only mom living this
This book put my broken mom life back together. I have recommended it every chance I've had.

Was very helpful and I was glad to see that I am not the only parent out there with the same struggles.

Not what I expected
A Mother's Survival - I was hoping that the book would share the author's experience on how she dealt with her son's ODD. The book is really an essay on his behaviors, not much about coping as a parent to a child with this disorder.

A difficult success story
An honest story of a frustrating experience - raising a child with ODD basically on her own, a loving mother finds it difficult to cope, even doing what she believes is the right thing. The big plus is that both mother and son were eventually able to work through it, but not without some emotional scars. Recommend for parents, teachers, family members who are connected to an ODD child.
