Good product
Good drive with a date stamp of 2010, far out of factory warranty but the drive seems to work fine as a storage drive. The price was right IMO.

Arrived defective.
This arrived defective. It is garbage. Unfortunately, I didn't install it to find this out until after the "return window" had closed, so I'm just out the money. Don't buy this, you will be cheated.

Good little hard drive for the money.
Bought this to install linux on, ended up swapping the purpose and using it as a document and music storage with a small virtual machine of linux on it, but I did get linux on it and a successful dual boot working. I haven't noticed slow read or write speeds seems to work as a just fine hard drive.

Cheap and 7200rpm.
Yup. Pretty basic 160GB to hold a backup OS and software.

Drive will not initialize. Full of bad sectors. It's just a big magnet!
I've probably installed at least 20 hard drives in the past 5 years. So when I put it into my computer, it said "Disk Unknown, Not Initialized" which is not uncommon. When I tried to initialize it, I got "Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)". This was using the virtual disk manager. I did a sector check using partition software and after 12 minutes, all I had gotten was failed sectors. The hard drive just sits there and clicks. Western Digital drives are reliable, just not this one. Perhaps just this vendor is having problems. Based on this item, I would not recommend purchasing this drive.
