The review below states the tires measure to 44mm. Are they a true 47 or are they 44?

These WTB Venture tires are definitely smaller volume than WTB Horizon Byway "47" tires.  Here are my measurements:

WTB Venture 650B x 47c - flattened bead to bead = 113mm (unstretched) - mounted (stretched 24 hours) = 47.0mm width

WTB Horizon 650B x 47c - flattened bead to bead = 121mm  - mounted = 48.1 width both measurements after weeks of mounted stretching.

By my math the 47 Venture has ~ 12% less mounted volume than the 47 Byway.  My volume calculations use unstretched width measurement of a new Venture, it would have to stretch 7% in width dimension to match the Byway.

Conclusion: either the Horizon is bigger than 47 or the Venture is smaller than 47.  WTB shouldn't be calling them both 47.  Unfortunately there is wide range of tire labeling interpretations across the bicycle tire industry, making it hard to compare brand to brand.  Even single brands such as Continental con’t maintain consistency across a single tire class or between generations of the same class.

Same 3T Discus Plus C25 Pro rim with 24m internal width was used for measurements.

Will these fit 700x38c?

Yes and possibly no..  Please bear with me while I try to explain. There are two parts on sizing the tire. 1st is diameter and 2nd is width. Your "700" is the diameter and your "38" is the width in millimeters. 38mm equals almost 1.5 inches (1.49 exactly) and the "700" equals close to 28 inches in diameter. You generally can fit a 700 on a 29in mountain bike rim so in reality these new tires you are possibly about to purchase will fit diameter wise. But not the 27.5 or 650b. Only 29inch. Honestly my main concern for you if you purchase these tires is going to be the width. If you don't have disc/rotor brakes they definitely won't fit unless you have cantilever pull brakes. Most road rim brakes won't allow enough room for a fatter tire. Hope this helps. Sorry for such a long-winded example but only trying to help you the best I can! Safe riding!!

Question 4

For the 700c tube for these tires, i could only find 700c 35-47.  Will these be ok?

That would be ideal for the 40c version, and should still work just fine with the 50c version though it may be more "thin" as it has to stretch slightly more than with a larger size tube.
