Love her approach to painting. She captures the essence of her subject and then stops the painting without overdoing it. Creates beautiful vibrant paintings.

Beautiful book! I have quite a collection of watercolor books, from beginner to advanced, and this is definitely one of my all-time favorites! Absolutely gorgeous artwork, and she explains how she got the effects that are so lovely and loose. She includes exercises that she advises to do before working on your masterpiece, on a daily basis; like warming up before a workout. She includes lots of easy to follow instructions; not how to make the same painting that she made, but how to achieve a similar look for your own original work. This is my first book by Jean Haines, but it will certainly not be my last. I highly recommend it, whether you are a beginner, a novice, or an experienced watercolorist.

This book is beautiful inside out. I love how easy this book makes painting feel. I love the examples, the instructions and just every single page in this book. The author has decades of experience and this particular style, abstract with a dreamy, atmospheric mood is really beautiful.I would say not to wait but to go ahead if you have even the slightest inkling or desire towards painting.I can't say enough good things about this book and I doubt you'll have any regrets if you buy it.

Beautiful book. I love the freedom of watercolor and she expresses it very well in her art and words.As I grow in my art path, this book represents so many ideas for me. I highly recommend her books.

This exquisite book has inspired me to take up watercolor again. I've always preferred impressionistic paintings to realism so I was drawn to Jean Haines' style immensely. She seems to be a lovely person who is so generous about sharing her tips. That is so helpful!! Much as I love my Kindle, I would not have even considered downloading a beautiful book like this onto it. It is important to see the gorgeous paintings in book form. I'm thinking of ordering more of her books as well as her DVD.I'm so pleased that I discovered Jean Haines!

Lovely book. Great painting philosophy and good lessons. This may not be for someone who has never watercolored, but it could be as long as you are comfortable with impressionism and aren't looking to be a perfectionist realistic painter. She does give good instruction, but you might want to study Chinese brush painting a bit before you get involved with this. I"m a beginner, but have read and tried some Chinese brush painting. I'm also happy with impressionism and getting just one part of a flower right and figure all the rest will come as I keep practicing. She does gorgeous color work. Highly recommend.
