It's amazing that mattresses can be shipped in a relatively compact box and suddenly pop to life as if they were always flat. I thought surely there would be a visible crease, but there was none to be seen or even felt. This mattress is somewhat firm – not squishy soft. It has solid support; however, there are several layers of foam on top that add up to about 4 inches for surface comfort. I prefer soft mattresses so you may want to factor that into my assessment.That is the unknown when buying a mattress online - how is it going to feel once it arrives? You may not even know until you sleep on it a few nights and acclimate to it. For the same mattress, one person will say it is too soft and another too firm. You should read multiple reviews to get a better idea if this is the mattress for you. I think this mattress has a good tradeoff in the firmness and softness category.It looks to be very well constructed after it springs into life - no indication it was ever rolled up and vacuum bagged. There was no odor that I could detect after cutting the plastic bag. Maybe the vacuum bagging sucks out a lot of the out-gassed odor. When you cut the plastic bag, air is being sucked into the mattress – not coming out of it.A couple of days after expanding, it still had not gotten much past about 10 to 11 inches thick. I didn't check it after that, because it's plenty thick enough. It looks like it is a little thicker in the middle than the edges, which makes sense. Maybe the thickness measurement is in the center of the bed and not at the ribbed edge. I could justify a 5 star rating, but I have another mattress that’s about $100 more expensive than this one that I prefer. That is my only reason for 4 stars. If you prefer a rating based on value, I’d give it 5 stars. You can almost buy a mattress from Amazon and get it delivered for the price of a local delivery from a high priced local brick and mortar store. Mattresses similar to this can provide roughly the same level of comfort as the $1500 mattress on which I have been sleeping. Of course, my expensive mattress is without question more comfortable and much heavier overall weight - but not a thousand dollars better.I'll repeat myself and caution you when buying online, you should read multiple reviews carefully to average out personal preferences and biases. I always read the one star reviews first and work my way up. Some one star reviews are peculiar, but some have very factual and true statements a buyer should seriously heed, especially if more than one person talks about the same problem. Mattress comfort is a personal opinion and varies greatly depending upon your physical size or spinal condition. I have five fused vertebras and ten screws in my spine, so that affects my judgment. I purchased this bed after reading all the reviews, and so far I love it. It is firm without being hard, and I rest much better now (as does my fiancee and the baby (when baby naps on the bed)). My fiancee has back problems from doing 10 years in the Marine Corps, and he loves the bed. We particularly like that movements from one person barely disturbs the other person, if at all. He shakes his leg a lot, which drives me nuts, but it doesn't bother me with this bed. If I get out of the bed, he is undisturbed and vice versa.So far, so good. I will update if any problems arise.I also purchased the Zinus 4 Inch Low Profile BiFold Box Spring, and the Zinus 14 Inch SmartBase Deluxe platform bedframe. I am very happy with all three! I foresee this trio lasting us a long while.If you're obese, have back problems, or just want a good bed, this is the way to go.

These are amazing beds. They come in a big box about as tall as a fridge box, just as thick. Very easy to set up. You could expect to pay 3-4 times the amount for a bed of similar quality via bed stores. I have bought two, one for my son, then myself. Firm yet soft at the same time, so plenty of support. Keeps it's shape. It opens up rapidly when you cut out of the packaging so place on the frame prior to releasing from package. "inflates" rapidly, by inflate I mean it opens up to natural shape it is not technically inflating. I've been happy with them twice. My brother bought one for his spare room and my parents just replaced their ancient mattress a week ago.About the frame, easy to set up and no box spring needed. The taller one is pretty high so if you are elderly or disabled you'll want to go with the standard frame instead of the taller one. I got the taller one for myself, my son has the standard height. So have seen both first hand. Both have ample room underneath for storage boxes and the like.The attached pictures are of the bed, just out of the box so not fully expanded yet. The instructions say give 24 hours to fully complete expansion. I slept on that night though. The frame show is the extra tall frame, it is 4 inches tall than the regular. I do have to climb up to get on so again not for elderly or disabled. The lower frame is perfect for them though, and it's cheaper - same quality.

The mattress has the right level of firmness we wanted. I gave it a 1-star rating because of its dimensions. We ordered a queen size mattress which was supposed to be 80x60 (you can check the question-answer section), but it is actually smaller. As shown in the pictures, it is actually smaller in size. Measurements are taken from one side of the mattress to the other. We have the same malm bed from IKEA and tuft and needle queen size mattress and that one fits the bed perfectly. Although it is a comfortable firm mattress we will not suggest this product to anyone because it is not the size that was promised.

I bought this mattress last March. I've never purchased a foam mattress or a mattress online, before. It says to take it out of the box and air it out asap and I left it in the box for over a month because my son and I were switching rooms & we had to paint and rearrange furniture, etc... When I took it out and cut the plastic off it slowly popped open and into shape within a few minutes. (Whew! What a relief!) I let it air out for a couple of days...the smell really wasn't bad or overwhelming (which would freak me out)... Put it on my old box spring, which was in pretty good shape, put a regular mattress pad on it and some newer sheets (the older bottom sheets don't fit). It's firm, but not too firm. I am a side sleeper and have always tossed and turned a lot and I like it, I sleep well. It got here quickly and the experience was painless, overall!
