Q: 1 day after opening, these live things came up that look like tiny larva. is this normal? yes, they were alive, about 5-6 of them wiggling around.

No, that is not normal, and that is not daphnia. Sounds like some kind of mealie worms got into it either before or after it was opened (flour weevils?). I have ordered this product twice and never had that happen. Did you keep the can sealed with the cap after opening? If not, it's possible something got into it, although one day seems like an awfully short time for anything to hatch. Assuming you kept it covered, the can was contaminated and you should ask for a return. Again, I've ordered this product twice and nothing like that has ever happened.

Q: how big is the bottle?

I would say 3 1/2 inxhes tall and 2 1/2 inches wide, a really good size bottle. I have 2 bettas and I don't think I will ever run out.
