Pete the Cat: Old MacDonald Had a Farm Kindle Edition

Bought this for my grandson. He loves it. Asks me to read it more than once at a time.

My daughters favorite book

I wanted something for my kindle book selection for when my grandson is getting bored. He is 5 years old and he loves the Pete the cat cartoons. This was a great first book as he was having fun reading the e-i-e-i-o with me as well as naming the animal as I pointed out the word. I am hoping this will help with the word recognition in other books on animals.

My son has me read this to him every night before bed. He is 3. He absolutely loves it. I make some modifications to the words to get through not a little faster though haha! He loves to identify the animals and sing the EIEIO parts.

I don’t know why the editor didn’t catch this but they have the goat and the sheep sounds mixed up. And no, it’s not subjective… the song goes “bah bah black sheep have you any wool”… it’s confusing to a young reader.

I think Mr. Dean is trying to capture the sing-along fun of the original Pete the Cat books that were written by Eric Litwin. Kids love to sing Old MacDonald Had a Farm and they love Pete the Cat. It should be a winner for a group story time. Though I think children and adults who believe that sheep say baa and goats say maa may be a little confused. I know I was, because Mr. Dean has the goats saying baa-baa and the sheep maa-maa. I may just switch the sounds for story time to avoid the confusion. On the plus side, preschool children that are familar with the song, will have no trouble "reading" the book to themselves. That's one step towards literacy and a love of reading and books.

My son loves this book...but it is extremely long! So many animals!

This book is WAAAAY longer than it needs to be. My toddler loves it. I do not. Currently hidden under the couch.

Book ok if you just want to read the word to old mc Donalds farm. I had hoped it would have a fun 'Pete the cat' spin- but it didnt 😞

best books for preschoolers

Bright, interesting, my twin 2 year old boys loved it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a kids book.
