Excellent message and stunning cinematography
Somber yet excellent message of counting the cost to stand up for what you believe in. Cinematography is stunning and looks at a period in history from a totally different perspective than most films about that era. Even though it is a subtitled film, it is easy to watch and even adds to the film as it is being seen in the original language of the family it portrays. You feel like you are a hidden observer in the real scene as it unfolds before you. It is VERY LONG (3 hrs I believe) but again, even this seems to add to the reality of the movie.

Such a treasure of a film.
Literally one of the most beautiful, yet heartbreaking films I’ve seen. Wonderful acting.

What would you do if you lived during the Hitler Regime?
Beautiful story of a marriage making decisions about not being able to make a vow to Hitler from the view of a German man. Reflective and painful of how this mans religious and moral convictions ran contrary to the goals of Dictatorship of Nazi Germany. We see the quiet opposition and battle. Very soft yet powerful rejection to the imposed political goals. Found refuge in God and becomes a martyr for his convictions. Amazed at clean feeling after death of an innocent man portraying at the end, hence the title. That it is the inner and hidden life and those devotions that mark who we are are what we simply can’t agree or support. Begs to ask, what would be your inner war or life should that choice be given to you?Could you walk that walk?Intimate, excellent cinematography, generational/community view of Socio-Political changes and drives.

Do you have the courage to be a Schindler? Think again
The movie “A Hidden Life” will make you think. Do you have convictions? How far will your convictions take you? Few have convictions they would be willing to die for, and even fewer still will be just causes. Religious zealots are your likely suspects here, but what if you were normal but your convictions were abnormally strong. Self-doubt, normal social pressures, and our desire to avoid pain are sufficient to make cowards of most men. History books are filled with courageous men who overcame these paralyzing realities and then their personality created an inner circle and that inner circle expanded so that were able to do great things, or not such great things. What if you were so completely normal that nobody followed your convictions, even your wife and own mother? A Hidden Life is a lonely story about the psychological warfare endured by one man as he stood firm to his convictions. If your arm chair quarterback view of yourself makes you think you have what it takes, then this movie will make you second guess yourself. Test: Do you have ANY convictions that NOBODY in your friend group shares? If so, how much would those convictions cost you?
