Q: How does this watch compare with the g-shock rangeman solar-assisted gps navigation gpr-b1000-1jr?

This watch does not have GPS functions like the GPR B1000. The GW9400 does not link to your cell phone either. As far as finding your bearings and heading directions, the GW9400 does have a compass and an altimeter. as well as solar, atomic time keeping, barometer, sunrise sunset and World time. The GPR B1000 has all of those functions too, but costs upwards of $800 USD. The GW9400 is the best bang for your buck at $330 USD. If you are a hiker or off-grid adventurer and need satellite GPS that works out of cell range, then the GPR B1000 is for you. But I really prefer the GW9400. Its much less expensive and does many of the same things.

Q: Product description says this watch is bluetooth enabled. is this true? if so what features are associated with the bluetooth connectivity?

The GW9400 does not have bluetooth. To keep a list of features with you at all times and how to operate the watch, I recommend downloading the users manual onto your smart phone. It took me about a month to learn all the features and how to manipulate them. I love this watch.

Q: Does this watch work without a battery?

Yes, it's tough solar, so as long as it gets a little sun exposure it should work for 20 plus years without a battery. There is a charge meter that tells you how good the charge is, on my other tough solar it died 1 time in 10 years because I didnt take it outside, I left it in the sun for a few hours and it had a full charge again.
