great bits of slate, comes with non slip / anti scratch feet pads pre applied. i used a bit of cheap vegetable oil to darken the look of the slate and make it easy clean & water resistant (more than how slate usually is at any rate!).they even took an impromptu trip through the dish washer and came out unscathed, although i wouldn't recommend trying!good size, fits our large Denby plates nicely and looks great on the table.

Compared to most slate products this one is really quite excellent. The beauty of slate is the irregular and jagged contour to where the surface meets the edges. If the edge is to sharp then you lose he beauty of the material - this isn't an issue with this product.They are also reasonable flat - most slate products have a somewhat uneven surface: again this isn't an issue with this place setOne thing I will say is that unlike other placemats of other materials such as cork or plastic - the marks from a cup of coffee or spilt food show up quite clearly (though they do wipe away) so need a decent wipe down after every use regardless of how much or how little gets on them.And given how coarse the edges are (something noted as a good thing aesthetically for slate) it can tear up a sponge and so a flannel or kitchen wipe is best.We will likely use them as our fancy wares and less of our everyday

Not suitable as standard placemats. Little pieces chip off every time you use them, leaving little flecks of slate all over the table. Also, because they are slate they leech the heat from your actual plate and your food goes cold very quickly.They’d probably be ok for cheese slabs on special occasions, or to display cold foods if you were doing a tapas/buffet.

Arrived beautifully packed and on time. It looks good, revolves really well and cleans easily. A lovely addition to my table. I'm very pleased with it, and will recommend it and the seller.
