For fans of oversized watches
We know that marketing blurb can be over the top, but when TW Steel says this "this is not a watch, it's a statement" they are exactly on the mark. This watch is big, heavy and bold, and I am impressed.Lifting it for the first time I was immediately put off by the weight (157g) that's heavier than many mobile phones. In actual use it does not feel that heavy, in fact you hardly notice the weight at all. There is a bit of confusion over the waterproof spec, the Amazon description says waterproof to 5 ATM but the inscription on the watch shows 10 ATM, per the manufacturer 10 ATM is the correct number. Also not in the Amazon description is the fact that this watch is part of the Valentino Rossi range, it's actually the Special Edition VR|46 Tech model. Hence the YAMAHA racing team inscription on the back (the watch is NOT made by Yamaha).I can understand the frustration about the lack of a users manual. The manuals are available to view/download on TW Steel's website, this is my personal preference, the problem I have with TW Steel in this case is that there is no indication in the packaging as to where to find the manual. In use the chronograph layout is not as cluttered owing to the extra size, and the smart position of the the date indicator. The silicon straps are comfortable, and as mentioned before the size/weight is a lot less noticeable when you're out and about.I'm not quite sure where TW Steel is placing this watch, there are many more better looking, better priced watches in their range. It's all down to person preference. If you are already considering this watch then I'd say go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Big watch, but impressive
I’ll mention before I start my review that I’m a bit of watch fan, I have loads, If I could wear more than one at a time I probably would, this is my first TW Steel, Enscribed on the back Yamaha, the first I’ve heard of the brand.First impression are very good, comes in its own small tin presentation box, very niceThat watch isn’t going to win everyone over, its a big watch, thick in design, and fair bit of weight, from what I understand that is the TW steel type of design. There is a lack of instructions and what the watch is capable of, it is 10 ATM, this means atmospheres, so the watch can with standard 10 times the pressure under water, good for snorkelling, not good for SCUBA activityThe watch has the Chronograph Display, I do like this type of display, strap is made of silicon, again this would not be everyones choice, however it does make the watch really durable and good for for out door activities, I guessPriced at £462 when reviewing, that’s a lot of money for this watch, seems very high end, I’m not sure I’d pay that for it.I want to give this watch five stars as there’s lots I do like about it, when on it feels great and I don’t think it looks great, however I’m looking at the price, does seem a lot of money, hence my four stars

Very mixed feelings.
What we gave here is a big, heavy lump of a watch, of rather 'industrial/heavy engineering' styling.Let's get the size out of the way first. If you don't like your watches big, deep and heavy, don't buy this watch. It really is a time-piece for people who want their watch arm stretched a little.OK - that said, let's get onto styling. It looks industrial. There is nothing subtle about this beast at all. The case has all the delicacy of the Forth railway bridge, and is finished in black. Whether you would describe this styling as 'bold and dramatic' or 'pig-ugly' will, to be honest, depend more on your own, personal tastes than any fundamental qualities of the watch itself.LACK OF INSTRUCTIONS. Here is my biggest bug-bear. Perhaps I was unfortunate, and received a watch where somone had forgotten to add the instruction book to the packet - but my watch came with no instructions AT ALL.I worked out for myself how to set it. I worked out for myself which hands do what (the blue hand that looks like a second hand is, for example, the 'stop-watch seconds hand' and doesn't move unless you're using the stop-watch - the ACTUAL seconds hand for the watch itself is the one in the bottom sub-dial). The right hand sub-dial appears to be tenths of a second for the stop-watch, the left-hand sub dial minutes for the stop-watch.There's a screw-down setting knob, used to set both time and date, and two buttons which work and re-set the stop-watch.Are there other functions? God knows! Without any instruction leaflet to say how to use the thing, how can I tell? So, in conclusion. If rugged industrial styling is your thing. If you like watches so heavy you could almost use them as a hammer to knock in nails. If the idea of receiving a watch without any instructions, so that you have to work out for yourself what to do with it doesn't bother you ... and if you have well over four hundred quid burning a hole in your pocket ... then this watch is for you.If, however, you're sane ... choose another. The three stars are because, once I'd 'sorted it', it does actually work, keep time, display the date and work as a stop-watch. So I cannot fault it's functionallity - but would I ever want to wear it? No. Would I ever want to BUY it, at well over four hundred quid? Never.
