Q: can it hold a water bottle on the side?

Yes, I have a 21oz insulted water bottle and it fits just fine.

Q: Anybody with the black bag, is it black inside or a lighter color (like the green shows a light grey inside)?

The inside of the black bag is light gray. :)

Q: Do the backpack straps tuck away, or snap onto the back when not in use? Is the shoulder strap removeable? Is the size ok for a short person? Thanks!

Yes, straps snap to bag to put away. Shoulder strap is removable, but it's a rather difficult mechanism so I don't take mine off. All straps are adjustable so that would be find for any size person. It's definitely my favorite bag ever - it holds a TON.

Quality bag

Lovely bag, bought as a gift and has held up very well. Is taken to work every day and holds a surprising amount. Feels of a good quality and looks good
