Desperate Measures (Wicked Villains) Paperback – May 18, 2019

I LOVE this story! And Jafar~♡It's so hard to find stories quite dark enough for my tastes, but this story comes very close.And the writing style really pulls you in as well. Not to mention the naughty scenes being an absolute delight.I'll admit I am not a fan of safewords, and wished for a slightly different ending, with Jafar ruling...well... I won't spoil it.But the ending was still very good. And the story even better.

Ok well I knew what I was getting when I went into DESPERATE MEASURES but oh wow was this a hot and sexy read! This book kicks off the WICKED VILLAINS series which features Disney villains and princesses reimagined in the dirtiest way possible (that’s a huge compliment). In this case we have Jafar who has taken over the territory Jasmine’s father once held and now he wants to possess Jasmine in every way possible. Jasmine might have been sheltered and kept away from the world her whole life but she’s wanted Jafar from the first moment she saw him. Of course that doesn’t mean she’s not going to put up a fight; partly because she loves the fight and partly because she wants to be an equal not just a pet.I’m always amazed how well Katee Robert handles power dynamics and consent in her books and I feel like DESPERATE MEASURES is a masterclass in showing clear consent for the reader. Jasmine and Jafar like to role play non-consent scenes and fighting and resisting is a big part of what turns them on. But as the reader it’s never in question that these two are enjoying themselves and completely ok with everything going on; even in that first sex scene which dives right into the role play so be prepared if you’re not familiar or comfortable reading about this kind of kink.Jasmine and Jafar were absolutely on fire together and the scenes where Meg joins them were so hot my Kindle almost scorched my hands. Good lord I would not recommend reading this in public where someone might look over your shoulder, lol. I also loved how obviously queer so many of the characters are and I can already tell that this series is going to only get hotter. There’s some set up for future characters as we meet several in the BDSM club, The Underworld (owned by Hades of course), and I can’t wait to read their stories.I do wish it was a little clearer what kind of world this was though; things like territories and factions were referenced but I was unclear if the various groups were supposed to be gangs or the mafia or something else all together. But let’s be honest, this is really about the sexual relationship between Jasmine and Jafar so I won’t make a big deal about the unclear world building. The ending was not what I was expecting, but without spoiling anything, it was awesome! It does tie up in a bow neatly but again, this series is clearly about the fantasy of it all and not meant to be perfectly “real life.”

Smoking hot. Contains graphic depictions of CNC (consensual-non-consent) and daddy-Dom BDSM tropes. The characters were fun. The book is steamy as all get-out. If you're looking for a smutty fairy tale retelling, I can't recommend this highly enough. five stars.

I started out really into this story, it was very reminiscent of the series by Emily McIntyre (I believe that these came first) but then about half way through I started to lose interest. I loved seeing all of the side characters who will undoubtable end up with their own books, and was sort of curious about most of their storylines, but I feel like I always end up with this let-down feeling when I read this author, so not sure if I will continue the series.

I had zero expectations going into this read. I think it was a .99 purchase, and it was late one night, I was bored, and I decided to peruse a chapter or two before I went off to bed. Mistake (don't read it if you need to sleep). The very beginning hooks you in and leaves you gasping for more. There is a possible questionable scene at the very beginning, but the consent is very clear prior to the act, and you are aware that the heroine WANTS what is happening even if she says otherwise. Roberts is great about making the consent very clear at all times. Jasmine always has the power (even if she doesn't realize it).To be frank, I am NOT personally into kinks, BDSM, daddy, dom/sub, but YOWZA reading this made me question myself and all that I thought I was into it. You think it doesn't work, but in this case it does. The sex scenes are hot and steamyyyy AF.This is a not a vanilla book, and it is not a book for people shy to erotica. I like the narrative, I loved the sex scenes, and I love the character development, particularly the empowering Jasmine.I will never look at Jafar the same way again. Yes, yes, and yes. This was my first Katee Roberts read, and I am THIRSTING for more.

Very good start of the villain serie of Katee. It's such a good story and the ending... Perfect !!!Don't resist the other five books, they are just as good.

Enjoyed this book. Great if you don’t mind the ‘Daddy’ phrase! Good amount of spice but also good storyline to add to the scenes!

Waw that’s the one word I would describe this with. I started reading not knowing to much about it except that it was a Aladdin retelling. Let me tell you this book didn’t disappoint, I read it in one day and it quickly became one of my favorite books of the year.

READ IT.I know some people said there is no plot?? They must not have read the book? Or we read different books.I am obsessed with this book, it's so well written and the erotic scenes are amazing. I really enjoyed it, 100% recommend.

I wanna delete my memory so I can reread it and enjoy everything again!I love that its not too much fantasy, it still feels very real. And its low key bast from one of my favorite movies from my childhood. A bit, just to hit the spot. Im in love..
