This is a must have personal water filter!
This is a must have personal water filter! Having clean drinking water is number one priority if something happens, and with this stick you can ensure you always have water to drink. This particular one is great, it is simple to use, effective, and easy to carry. You can use the clip to secure it to you or your backpack and use the stick directly in water source when you find one. The best part though is that it comes with not only a thin bottle, but also a plunger to clean the filter and maintain its lifespan for longer. It also has an extension pipe in case you can't bend down or get close enough to the actual water source. If you work it just right, you can even use the plunder and extension tube to help fill your water bottle or other water source. Overall, I am very pleased with this charcoal personal filtration system. You get exactly what you want with this one

Works smoothly but odd particulate test results
This personal "straw" water filter set is constructed similarly to most of these items. This set includes a few bonuses which make the straw more useful than average. The tubing allows you to extract and filter water from areas that you cannot reach down to directly with the straw. In a "true survival situation," I can imagine that this would be useful. The water storage bottle is also handy for storing filtered water for later use. Both of these items are "must-haves" if you plan to use a straw device like this as your main water filtering device on a short trip or in your go-bag. The storage bladder is nice to have been included, but as a bonus item, it isn't super tough. For an actual wilderness solution, you'll need to upgrade to something tougher.I waited forever for it to rain around here so at least I'd have a muddy puddle around to test this on, and alas, nothing. So I ended up trying it out on the old standard of food coloring colored tap water instead. Our tap water has a (yuck) high mineral content and a good filter can typically reduce the particulate count significantly. (I use a handheld PPM meter to test the particulate count.I also test the pH when I test filters; a good filter will typically bring the pH down at least a little.)The water filter doesn't take much effort to operate, but I wouldn't want to be trying to prepare or drink more than a gallon at a time at the outer limit. You can see in my picture the before and after of the colored water. The filter removed at least half of the dye. Compared to similar tests I have done, this is a good result. My tap water's original pH was 7.99; filtered water, 7.52. The parts per million of the tap water was 129; filtered water, 139. Yes, you read that right. The tap water had more particulates *after* it went through the filter. The different in the number was slight, but it seemed so strange that I repeated the test with a sample of my neighbor's tap water. Similar results. I don't have an explanation for this but I did find it strange. The only other issue I had with this filter was that I would prefer to use a device that had replaceable filtration parts. It's tough to choose something that has to be completely replaced about using it to filter fewer than 1000 gallons. (That said, at the reasonable price when I purchased, having one of these in your emergency supply kit is a good idea.)This item was provided to me at no cost in return for writing this unbiased review.

Clean safe water anywhere
I believe it is a very good idea to try to be prepared for emergencies and disasters. It is impossible to plan for every imaginable circumstance. But there are things, like clean drinking water, that are absolutely necessary for survival under any conditions. This personal water filtration straw is definitely a must have in my emergency/disaster kit to ensure that my family and I have clean safe drinking water. It can filter out 99.9 percent of harmful bacteria, from up to 360 gallons of water, without the use of chemicals. It is very simple to use, and has nothing that would make it difficult to use in an emergency. It does not use batteries or electricity. It is lightweight and portable, and able to purify enough water for multiple people. To use this, I open the caps, insert the end into a water source and sip filtered water through the mouthpiece. After drinking, I blow, to expel dirty water and flush the filters. This is ideal to bring along while hiking, camping or hunting, or to keep in an emergency kit for disasters such as storms or apocalypse. Overall, I am very happy with this water filtration system, and I will update my review if my opinion changes in the future.I was blessed to receive this item from the seller at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased evaluation and review, in order to help other customers learn more about the product before they decide whether or not to buy. I was not told what to write, nor was I asked to give it a certain rating, nor was I influenced by any party. Excellent water filtration system for emergencies
The media could not be loaded. I love this item. I have wanted a straw style water purifier for awhile. I was excited to receive this one. I was more excited that it came with the extras that I did not expect. I should have read the listing better but the surprise was nice. So you receive the straw, which is ready to go. Uncap the bottom and place it in the water then uncap the top and drink. It was a little frothy and funky at first while the filter got wet and working so I spit that water out. Then it was easy and the water was good and clean. When done drinking you blow through the mouth piece to expel left over water. I left the bottom open for the filter to air dry. The extra piece are nice too you get a foldable water bottle that connects to the filter so you can fill the bag with river water, screw the filter onto the top and squeeze out the clean water to drink. Or you can attach it to a larger water bag or simply extend the reach using the tubing. Finally a syringe can help clean and expel the excess water from the filter. This is an awesome set up and I highly recommend it. Everyone should have some of these in their emergency supplies and camping gear.I received this item free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
