Silk PLA Turquoise Peacock Blue Shiny 3D Printer Filament, 1.75mm Diameter 1kg/Spool 2.2lbs Widely Support FDM 3D Printers, with Extra One Bag Filament Sample Gift DO3D

I have avoided "rainbow" filament because I don't usually print large items and the rate of color change was usually so large as to be useless to me. When I saw this "fast color change" filament I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I printed a Longhuo dragon model from Thingiverse at 200% (6" long by 5.5" tall) with a modest infill and had 9 (!) color changes which resulted in wonderfully resplendent dragon. The filament itself has that nice silky sheen to it so the final product was just gorgeous. It took me a little while to tune in the temperature--215c worked for me--which is a little hotter than I print most PLA, but other than that, I found it printed quite well.

UPDATE: 6/25/20 - I found that I still had some of this filament left over from last October, stored in a plastic bag with some desiccant packs in it. figured I'd use it up, and it still printed great. Loaded it on my custom hypercube, at 203* nozzle temp, and 50* on the bed, and made a near flawless Maori statue.------------------------Original Review, October 2019:I am really liking this filament. This is the first time I've printed with one of the silk-type PLA's and I really like the results this gives. I am using this on a CR-10S 400 with stock hotend and Petsfang duct with a 5015 fan at 90%. I am printing this at 203 degrees at the nozzle and 58 on the bed with great results. I know a lot of people print PLA at higher temps (210+), but I seem to get the best results at lower temps. For reference, standard black hatchbox PLA prints great for me at 196 degrees.My speeds are 30mm/s walls and 40mm/s for everything else. Sure, I won't break any speed records, but I am getting very clean prints. Very happy with this - I will definitely be checking out more colors from DO3D

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I printed this up for my nephew initially with a darker silky filament. Wasn't quite what I was looking for with this project. I decided to give this filament brand a try as it had good reviews. This did exceptionally well and I am very pleased with this. I now have 3 of his friends requesting one as well, so I will be purchasing another spool. The spool is wound up really clean as well, compared to some others that I will not mention.

Revised 5/19/2020 - After running some known good PLA through my Ender 3, I found I had issues with the known good PLA too. After fixing the extrusion issue with the printer, this PLA printed fine. Still no valid contact information though. An email without a website is a red flag. Especially when the email comes back as a dead address.-----------No website or valid contact information. [email protected] comes back as a bad address.Tried everything to get this PLA to stick to the build plate on my SainSmart Ender 3.Higher & lower nozzle temperature, closer & further from the build plate.Slower and faster speeds.Higher and lower bed temperatures.Glass bed plate.Hair spray, blue painters tape, the works!Nothing will make this stick to the plate.It loves to ball up on the nozzle and pull off everything already put down.JUNK

I am still very new to 3DP and have limited experience with the various filament brands. A friend picked out this filament for a project based strictly on the color/finish. It was one of the first filaments that I've printed with but I am very happy with the results. Printing at the right temperature (220C) makes a noticeable difference in the final finish (you can see in one of the photos where the finish changed when I adjusted the nozzle temp).I've printed nearly the entire kilogram of this silk blue. Printed 200+ hours making parts for fly fishing reels, some woodworking tools and various other things. Very few issues that weren't just problems with printer settings (z-offset, or temp settings, or cleaning the bed). I have not had any major issues with stringing or adhesion.I will definitely buy this filament and likely other DO3D colors again.All printed on a Creality CR6-SE.

I received today, so not much time to print much. I printed a flexible lizard. It was gold on the belly to copper on the top. It almost looks like coins. The change is pretty subtle but very pretty. The print was less than 20 grams. I am printing another. They will each be unique. I think the second will be more red/magenta.I would like a rainbow that is more saturated, but knew that this wasn't that before ordering. I ordered because of the promise of quick color changes, and this definitely has that.My order came with samples of possibly every color they have. The sample colors are nice, just not really long enough to know what they look like printed. They are barely usable in my 3d pen. Definitely too short to use in a printer. I would prefer a sample of a single color long enough to print a test model.

This filament works nicely in the printer. The finished product looks as if it is made with a silky, cloth finish. I didn't have any problems with it during use at all.My biggest issue is that there is not enough color variation in the filament to produce a finished product that truly has a "rainbow" effect. I used it to make two identical prints and one just looked as if it were made of a bronze filament. The other did have some degree of color change, but it was extremely subtle. My conclusion was that this will work wonderfully on something that is larger and has a larger cross-section. But I must admit that I was disappointed for what I used it for.I plan on testing my conjecture shortly and will update this review to reflect the results. Just keep in mind that if you're looking for a finished product that will end up being multi-colored, you may or may not get what you anticipate. If that is not a huge issue for you, then rest assured that the filament is a great quality and produces a print that is silky smooth and very nice looking!
