I do not give 5 stars or do reviews often. However, this one really works!
I had a brat of a dog that we have tried training over and over with different methods, classes, etc. She knows exactly what to do but, more often than not, would simply refuse. Three cheap training collars later I was at my wits end and got this thing with very low expectations. It has only been a few weeks and she is no longer a brat! It took just a couple of very low simulations (shocks below 30%) after pages (vibration function) and she now responds to voice only commands or one page if she is really worked up. Another unexpected benefit is that she also is a happier dog; she is much friendlier with people and other dogs! I was worried she would hate this collar but every morning, on her own, she sits next to the shelf where I keep it and looks at me until I put it on her! If your dog is having training issues I can say this thing works, at least for me, unbelievably well.

My Second unit
This is my second unit. The first lasted 10 years with 2 battery changes. These are good units. The range is perfect for me. I have a 2 acre lot. It is water proof and fits my hand great. I really like vibrating warning, electric stim nick, and constant stim if necessary. I train all my dogs with electric collar and have never used constant. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that they changed and move the control for amount of stim - 0 to100. It is a dial now on the upper right face of the control. In the past it was a knob on top of the unit next to the antenna. I keep my unit in my jacket pocket when I walk my dogs "out back". I have found that the in & out of the pocket "moves" the dial so I have to check the intensity of the dial every time I pull it out. I would highly recommend this product. I"ll teach mysely to use the lanyard and hang it around my neck. Maybe.

Like the dial on the side. Easier to use and be quick about it. Simple to use.

I have a nice dog (no more mouthy barking at the door/window)
I need to start this review to say ONLY PURCHASE IF YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL TRAINER to show you how to properly use this collar. I can't stress that enough! Our dog trainer, Donna, came over to our home to work this exercise with our 2 year old cocker spaniel, Milo. Milo had earned the nick name "Mouthy Milo" because he would constantly bark at people, dogs, squirrels and even blowing leaves when the front door or windows were open. I tried rectifying the situation myself but got no results. So I called our dog trainer , Donna, for a house visit. I had worked one - on - one with Donna for about 6 months and Milo to teach him, sit, stay, down, come and heel. He will do all of these commands verbally as well as visually quite well. All commands are rewarded with lots of praise (no treats - I don't recommend a trainer who uses that method - are you ALWAYS going to have treats on you? no - but you always have praise to give!). But Milo has a strong spirit and his own mind and would run around the coffee table growling and barking if I tried to correct him for barking at people/objects when the doors were open. Might I add that he would also bark or do a low growl when I would walk him and we would see people/dogs at the local park. That all had ended. I have my life back. And a pretty nice dog to boot.In 1 hours time Donna trained Milo (with collar attached) and it works this way:COMMAND - CORRECTION-COMMAND-PRAISEThen I worked with Milo for the past two weeks. If he barks (which is not a 1/2 muted bark)I say "Quiet" and he stops and looks up to me! I give him lots of praise, he shakes it off and runs for a toy or goes on his merry way.WOW!

This is the second Dogtra collar that I have purchased at the recommendation of my trainer. The first collar was for 2 dogs. This collar received limited use. When adopting another dog I expected this same collar to work for her training also but was disappointed to find the remote was defective. Once again upon trainers recommendation I purchased another Dogtra collar made for 1 dog. After less than 3 weeks this collar also became useless. The same issue the remote would not transmit to the collar. These collars are not cheap but the workmanship certainly is! I would not recommend this brand to anyone based on my experience. Dogtra collars are highly overrated! Rest assured next time I speak with the trainer he will be advised of my problems with the Dogra collars!

Last guy who thought he use this
Great product! I was adamantly against the idea forever and for context, I bought a spiked training collar and only placed it on my dog inside out because I didn’t want to hurt him. Then, my dog would forget about the frisbee toss and dart across the street, oblivious to traffic and would relentlessly smell another dog while I tried to get his collar. Well, twice was enough for me and then the collar went on. Now, he gets a chance to redirect his behavior before he darts across the street and thus far it’s worked great.
