Manley Beasley: Man of Faith - Instrument of Revival

Good book to help build your faith.

I remember Manley Beasley coming to our church when I was a child. I don’t remember a lot of the specifics about what he preached but I remember the spirit. I’m sure it made an impact on my spiritual journey. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting all the history of Manley Beasley’s life and impact.

Having been born in 1979, I never met Manley Beasley. However, a mentor of mine converted some of Manley's sermon tapes into CD's and passed them along to me several years ago when I started Pastoring my first church. After listening to them, I thought "What did I just hear?" It was amazing to watch over the weeks and months to come how those sermons seemed to replay over and over in my mind at the most convenient times, reminding me to trust God. So when this book became available, I knew I should read up on it and discover this remarkable man named Manley Beasley. In spite of the illnesses and infirmities that he faced on a daily basis, I find his life to be a fragrant essence to the true life of faith in God. He set such an example, paving the way, through his life, for us to witness what a walk with God should look like. I must admit, I find myself sorely inadequate in many ways after reading this book. Yet, I also find hope in the message that Manley left with his life. Probably the most memorable quote to me of the many recorded from Manley is this: "God won't hurt you." What a wonderful testimony, and what an awesome God! Ron Owens has done a remarkable job recapturing the essence of Manley's message. I felt as if I was there.

Having been blessed personally as a new Christian and called minister of the gospel by the ministry of Manley Beasley in the 1970's, I was so grateful for so much that the book filled in about his life, ministry and home-going to be with the Lord. The man was a miraculous marvel and the book brings out so much that helps the reader better appreciate how much the hand of God was on His life. I was greatly blessed by the book and am grateful to Ron Owens for giving us who want to further grow in our faith walk, a better understanding of the walk that Manley lived out to the glory of God.

It was wonderful to read the evidences of a life of faith in God who lived dependent on and obedient to His Father. I was encouraged to read of such a God honoring life that found God more than sufficient to sustain and fill a man whose physical afflictions were so huge.Such simple truths were lived out in a way that helps my understanding of how God desires to change me.

This book is not written in a typical biographical style, but rather a compilation of vignettes of Manley's life accompanied by the message he gave. It will serve as an inspiration that there is more to life than what you are currently experiencing. I highly recommend this book.

This is probably one of the most powerful books on faith that I have ever read. Even in comparison to the old writers like Wesley, Clark, Finney, etc. He truly was a Godly man with real faith during some extremely tough circumstances. Its a must read for anyone who is hungry for more of God!!!

Love reading about this man's faith. This truly must have been a man of faith.

A detailed account of the life and beliefs a Southern Baptist Minister who was greatly used by the Lord in churches, conferences and mentoring other ministers and believers. Those interested in learning about the Christian faith will be enlightened by this read. Christian believers will benefit in their own spiritual growth by learning about the life and faith of this revivalist minister. Pastors will be challenged to believe God for great things in their ministry. His later years of ministry, while terminally ill is a testimony to the keeping power of God, and the faith of Manley Beasley.

This book is both informative and stimulating. The detail of Manley's life is sufficient without being overdone. The strength of the boo lies in the summarised teaching that Manley gave on the nature and practice of faith. The variety of testimonies to illustrate the teaching is exciting and challenging.
