Q: can these frames be hung on the wall?

can not be hung on the wall,can stand desktop

Q: Is there a hard plastic frame around the edge?

It is basically a flat plastic rectangle piece with a full magnet across the back. It has a clear pocket on the front, but it’s slightly smaller so it has a flat trim around 3 of the edges on the outside. Touching the front, it will as if the clear pocket is just slightly more raised than the edge. Hope that helps.

Q: is the frame thick enough for patches? thank you in advance

It’s designed for photos so a patch the size of the frame is not likely to fit. But if it was a bit smaller you could get it to fit.
