The people that designed this really thought about how to make this simple. It does exactly what I need. Set the time and date. Set what time(s) you want it to turn on. Set what days you want it to turn on. Set how long it should run for. Turn it on auto and you are done. The only other button is a manual override on/off which helps me test the system and see what parts need replacing without affecting the schedule. It takes AAs that last at least a season so cheap to operate. I now run 4 of these to cover different areas. Only issue is 2 in a riw showed up with cracked LCD screens probably due to some errant package tossing en route. Just look them over when they arrive. Once they are mine they are solid.

I have had this and used it daily for a couple of weeks. It is simple to use and works well. If you have trouble operating this time/controller, then you have bigger issues. It is almost idiot-proof!One of the best features of this timer/controller is the large size of the inlet; it is not a pencil size hole like most I investigated -- it is more like a garden-hose-size inlet. It lets a lot of water through with sufficient pressure to water the garden using a rotating sprinkler (covering a semi-circle) on a tripod located about 50' from the faucet. The sprinkler needs enough pressure to trip the switch that causes it to change direction once it reaches the limit and returns in the other direction -- not all timers let enough water through to allow the sprinkler to trip the switch.THE ONLY NEGATIVE so far is related to the display (which I remedied as shown in photos) -- it needs to be kept shaded from the direct sunlight in this 100+ degree weather. I have noticed that in the afternoon when it has been exposed directly to the sun for a couple of hours, the display cannot be read -- it looks like the LCD melted and most of the area is solid black. HOWEVER, after I created a shade to block the sun from shining on the timer/controller, it stays cooler and is now readable again -- like nothing was ever wrong with it. I would buy this product again if I needed another, but I will make sure that it is shaded from day one.

I first bought this sprinkler timer about 9 years ago at HD on sale because it was an opened package. It performed reliably and the batteries would last several years. Eventually, it became unreliable with watering only intermittently. So, it was time to purchase another one.This sprinkler is so easy to operate that reading the instructions is unnecessary! You set the date and time, then what days you want to water, when and for how long and that's it. You can easily turn it off and change the settings at any time. When set on "auto", you can also do a "water now" for as short or long a time as you want. This new timer has performed flawlessly and I expect that it will operate for many years to come. The only thing you will need to occasionally replace is the hose gasket.

After putting batteries in and setting it for a quick cycle to see if/how it worked, I connected it first to one and then to a different hose bib. I snugged down the connector by hand until the body would no longer rotate under it's own weight, both times, then turned the hose bib on. Both times, it immediately leaked from several openings on the device housing. From the area around the connectors, as well as around the buttons to the right of the display. The timer function and valve actually worked as expected. I didn't expect a free flow of water from every little opening of the housing at all times, however. Not sure if I'll try another of this brand or not. Pretty disappointed.
