Q: When mounting to a wall, must it be mounted to a side wall or can it be mounted to the back wall?

I can be mounted either way just make sure you have it positioned correctly

Q: Do the straps / hooks interfere or create creases in the molding that might cause weather leakage into the jeep over time?

I have this for 12 months or more - I have not experienced any creasing in the molding nor have I experienced any leakage. The hooks essentially grab the frame.

Q: Will this work with a 2019 jeep sahara jl?

Yes, but you need the JL rear window hook which is sold separately through Lange. It will cost $50 + shipping additional.

Q: Will this work in a garage with a 8 foot ceiling?

My husband said it will work, but it will be kinda tight. Our ceilings are 9 ft and it hangs down about a foot off the ceiling, so it depends on the height of your jeep. Hope this helps!
