Very happy with this purchase
I was tired of getting ice cream with so much sugar and added stuff in it, not to mention how high $$ it is getting. Made 4 quarts so far and it's perfect, and the price is a little price, makes ice cream in about 10-15 min vs the Kitchen-aids 20- 30 min recommendation. When the plastic starts to skip turn it off before it breaks (this means it is done). We like the consistency, but it makes more than you should eat in one sitting (if only 2 or less people - perfect amount for 4 people). You can put the mixture in the freezer, but it becomes too frozen! I was initially worried about the bowl taking up too much freezer space, but it's surprisingly compact. It doesn't take up much room. I didn't like the fact that there is only 1 recipe in the booklet that comes with it. It says to go to the web site for more, but the web site does not tell you how much of each ingredient to use. I have been doing trial and error, so far about 4 cups of liquid seems to work without it overflowing. All in all, we love it and glad we purchased.

LOVE!!!!
The media could not be loaded. I love the ice cream maker bowl. It works wonderfully I wish the piece that slides onto the actual turning mechanism would fit a bit more tightly ( it can be a harder to assemble at times it wants to slide off) but it works. But we all love the fresh ice cream it is quick and easy tastes amazing. The only thing is some recipes need to but halved if you are using the 4.5 quart machine and like your ice cream a bit more firm. It’s not too noisy, looks great, and the bowl fits easily onto the mixer. Definitely a keeper attachment and getting ready to buy the recipe book YAY!!UPDATE: We really enjoy the fresh ice cream. It is wonderful. I do wish the bowl would stay cold longer. I have to refreeze the bowl before finishing the batch. And it does take a whole batch for it to feed us all. Honestly if I wish I had just gotten the 6 quart mixer. I really do love the kitchaid stand mixer

Instructions could be better.
I had two issues with the product, both minor. First, the connector attachment doesn't fit flush to the mixer, which makes it a bit awkward to setup - not difficult, just awkward. The instructions do not tell you that once you start churning the ice cream, you cannot stop until it is completed period. If you stop he mixer for any reason, do NOT restart it. If you do, the plastic connector will snap as the dasher will have frozen in the bowl. This happened to me when our power went out for about 30 seconds then came back on. I wasn't close enough to get to the mixer to stop it when the power came back on and I heard a loud snap and the connect plastic had broken. It would have been nice if there was a warning in the instructions about power outages. Overall though, the ice cream maker works well. I made a no-added sugar chocolate ice cream with sugar free chocolate chips mixed in as well as a pink champagne sorbet. Both were quick and easy. Clean-up is simple. The bowl does take up a large amount of my freezer space prior to making the ice cream. My freezer is set a -1 F, so it only takes about 15 minutes to churn the ice cream.

Fun addition to my kitchen
I was wanting an ice cream maker for awhile. Lots of friends have the Creami and love it. I read a ton of reviews and ultimately settled on KitchenAid ice cream maker since 1) I already have the KA mixer and love it 2) didn't want a whole extra appliance in my kitchen and 3) have the freezer space to store the bowl in there full-time.The first time I used it, the bowl got hopelessly stuck on the mixer. Took my husband and brute strength to get it off. Not sure why or how, but never was an issue again. Must have just screwed it on the a little crooked the first time? It takes about 20-30 minutes to make a 1.5/2 quart batch. But that's about the consistency of a thick milkshake. Not bad, but I usually make ice cream in the morning/early afternoon to have ready for after dinner. But it makes it super smooth and creamy. I have tried both egg-based custard and just heavy cream recipes. Both delicious. Very happy with purchase.
