The Truth About These Glasses From Someone Who Was Skeptical
Strong recommendation for the Norlan Whisky Glass. I had been eyeing them for a year before finally taking the plunge. I just had to see if there was a difference between them and the Glencairn.Pros+Does exactly what it says it was designed to do.....enhances the nose on whiskey. I’ve had trouble picking out notes in the past and this glass opens it up for me.+The enhanced nosing experience improves the palate as well+Look and feel. You’re not going to find a more stylish glass. These things are pieces of art.+The way the light reflects around the bourbon and the glass. You know those rocks glasses with gold rims? When you have whiskey in these Norlan glasses the color of the whiskey reflects throughout parts of the glass and creates a golden ring around the top of the glass when there’s whiskey in it. Drink all the whiskey? The gold ring is gone. It makes it feel like the act of pouring whiskey into the glass gives the glass a golden aura shining off it. I can’t help but agree. (This one only applies to the clear version. The blacked out version would not have this same effect.)+The way it feels in your hand.Cons+The glass is light and needs to be handled with care. You’re not going to break it just by using it or anything, but you do need to be careful with them. If you drop them they are going to break. They are meant for calm, careful sessions of enjoying your favorite bourbon.+The ridges in the bottom of the glass inside do help release the notes in the nose, but they will break if you put ice or stones in them. This was one of the main reasons I held off originally....because of the reports of those ridges breaking. Nobody wants to have shards of glass in their drink. 😬 These glasses are strictly for enjoying whiskey neat.+Some people complain about the curvature of the glass when you put your mouth on it. I actually like the feel, but felt it worth mentioning.+You’ll want to be very careful while cleaning them.+CostIf you are willing and able to spend the money on them and handle them with care, these glasses will truly enhance the overall look, feel, smell, and taste of your whiskey enjoyment.I should add. I rarely use my Glencairns anymore. Hope that helps!

It is exciting
My opinion changed quite a bit in 2 weeks. Initially I was not impressed for a few reasons. I thought the cup was small, 70-80% of an old fashioned whiskey glass. Very light. I think I would prefer a heavier one. it is two layered with very thin glass and air in middle. That makes its color affected strongly by background. In my home environment, it often looks a bit yellow, than crystal. A regular fashioned whiskey glass does not have this problem.Pros:It does improve smell and drink experience in its own way.It essentially holds a shot in the middle of this cup. The bottom of the drink may be 1CM closer to the top of the cup, in other words, the drink is closer to your nose when you smell the whisky. The drink also looks larger in this cup than an old fashioned cup. Somehow, I drink more slowly with this cup.It provides a new and unique drinking experience for sure. Conclusion: I was expecting a bigger and heavier cup. Initially I was a bit disappointed. After 2 weeks, I found myself using this cup for each dram of whisky, as every dram looks so clear in this cup color wise. Somehow, it just looks very cool. I drinks less and I appreciated the taste more.Guess that is what a great cup is for. Changed 3 to 5 stars.Note, if you happen to be love sake, it is wonderful cup for a cold sake like momokawa.

Impressive performance
I saw these in a YouTube video and decided to drink whiskey like a boss. I am still shocked these made the difference they did and look so great doing it. The magic is in the shape and contour of the glass which breaks up the alcohol smell and brings out subtle taste and scent notes other wise lost in a regular glass. Highly recommend it's worth the price for astute drinkers. These are made for enjoying the drink not chugging

The packaging is really cool, but
So I've tried several different types of tasting glasses and this one by far takes the cake. Its open enough to let the ethanol scents escape, while allowing the user to take in the notes on the nose. I've tried this with Lagavulin Distillers edition, Yamazaki 12, and Habiki Harmony. All three were vastly improved on the nose out of this glass, compared to other tasting glasses. Two notes for improvements.1. The packaging is really cool, but... unless you want to re-wrap the glasses in the packing paper, its kinda useless. A foam insert for each glass in the packaging tube would be a great improvement over the paper. It would allow the user to safely store their (extremely fragile and expensive) glasses.2. While being extremely high quality glass, its waaaaaay to light and fragile. Make the outer glass wall a little thicker. Everyone enjoys a light glass, but not a fragile one. And everyone i know would rather have a glass that won't break easily over something that weights .2 oz less.A tip for those who are looking to try these. This is a tasting glass!!!! It is not meant for cocktails or to be filled to the brim with spirits. If you're looking for that, this is not the glass for you. Also, wash by hand. these glasses are nice, but i'm not sure they could handle a dishwasher.

One of the best glasses
out there for Whiskey drinkers.I tried Glencairn glasses they are very good also but the double glass insulates away heat better and shorter nose opening of the Norlan makes it so you do not need to tilt your head back to take a sip.Only negative the lip is a tad thicker than the Glencairn so it may cause a tiny drip if not careful.Taste wise I cannot tell the difference. Both are exceptional glasses.
