Yes. This "charger" sucks for charging. It works well for mounting the phone. Just useless to charge wirelessly

Q: Will a magsafe connection work with apple carplay the same as a direct usb to lightning connection? my car does not support carplay via bluetooth.

There are two ways to connect your iPhone to your car.1. If your car supports CarPlay with a USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon.2. If your car supports wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel. Make sure that your stereo is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap Available cars, and select your car. Sorry, it's only compatible with iPhone with Magsafe(12 series or later).

The CryoBoost indicator light is made up of LEDs which are highly efficient with an estimated power usage of around 0.5W. It is always on during charging and when initially plugging the charger into a power source. If no phone is attached, the light will turn off after 5 seconds. When a phone is taken off of the charging pad, the light will also turn off after 5 seconds.
