sword ok but hand guard fell off immediately
The hand guard is attached by tiny nails and poorly glued into place. This curved piece of wood came loose and detached shortly after taking it out of the box and handling it. Luckily it was being used as a stage prop from a distance and I was able to use it without the hand guard. Otherwise trying to reattach the hand piece would have been more work than it was worth. As a basic prop it is ok but the workmanship is poor.

Excellent prop sword!
I bought this for my 7-year old to carry as part of her pirate costume, after the plastic sword from the party store *broke* the first time she swung it. This wooden sword is very solid and has a nice weight. I don't know how it would stand up to rough play; she's not out there hitting anything with it. But as a costume piece, it's pretty fabulous.

Good quality; handles will come off with hard use.
Bought these for our pirate-themed wedding in 2009. They were used in a sword fight during the ceremony & then for practice fighting several times after that (still are with careful handling). They are little worse for wear & missing the handles, but still in decent shape. Well worth the money that we spent & the fun we've had. Thanks!

Great for what it is!
Very fun little prop. Made of decent wood, lacquered. One of the ones I ordered showed up and had splinters but some quick knife work fixed it. I used these for my kids who attended a pirate event. Worked out very well and we still have them even after a night of them playing with them.

wood isn't cut right around the handle, you can ...
wood isn't cut right around the handle, you can see where they cut it wrong, backed out and tried cutting it again. NOT FOR KIDS. -> Where they attach the wood together around the grip left exposed rusted metal pins.

Only buy if it’s for a one time use!
Handle broke off within 10 minutes out of the box.Sword is very weak and fragile even for “pretend fights” in skits and plays. Would recommend to go with a different wooden sword as this is the worst experience I’ve ever had with something like this.

Pirate Swords
I bought these for a community theater play and they were perfect. With a little paint they looked just like the real thing. Arrgh!
