Review "....Tony C....romps through a sizzling new Hawaiian album that stretches the contemporary boundaries as never before.. -- Wayne Harada, Honolulu Advertiser"Few artists in Hawaii create radical recordings that venture boldly beyond the parameters...of island music...Tony C has pulled off such a coup." -- Jon Woodhouse, The Maui News"TC2000 is a cool record. It's a unique break from the day to day usual monotonous sounding music." -- Fred Rico, Program Director, I-94 Radio P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); About the Artist An artist constantly ahead of his time, Tony C has marched to the beat of his own drum his entire life. From a young age, he has made audiences stand up and take notice in everything that he has done--some tinged with controversy, others with pure admiration and respect. His career began as a child when he performed as a soloist throughout his youth. Tony was only 6 years old when he began performing with Myrtle K. Hilo on her KCCN Radio show, which was broadcast live every Saturday. Tony's nightclub debut followed shortly thereafter. In 1985, his debut album, Hawaiian Passion, swept the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, winning in the prestigious categories of Album of the Year, Traditional Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year.. He has followed that initial recording with eight others, two with his real-life brother, Brother Noland. Not one to rest on his laurels, Tony C immediately left the islands after sweeping the Hokus and headed to New York City where he performed in the Broadway sensation, "Miss Saigon". While there, he also performed in the New York nightly cabaret circuit to standing room only audiences. Some of his acting accolades include performances in "Dreamgirls" in Hawai'i and in the original Broadway company of "Miss Saigon" where he understudied Jonathan Pryce. After performing the world over, Tony C returned to the islands four years later. As a former student under such illustrious kumu (teachers) as Vickie I'i Rodrigues, Ma'iki Aiu Lake and Darrell Lupenui, he has taken this knowledge and shared Hawai'i's spiritual and cultural views with the rest of the world. Not one to ever slow down, Tony continues his singing career as a recording artist for The Mountain Apple Company and produces other artists.Tony C - vocals, chants Gardner Cole - sequencing, rhythm guitar, drums Rocky Brown - background vocals Jon de Mello - drums, strings, Hawaiian implements James Ganeko - drums, bass Jess Gopen - drums Leslie Porter Miller - guitar Misty - background vocals Anthony Natividad - nose flute Sean Thibadeaux (guitar) Ben Vegas (background vocals) See more
