Fantastic!!!
I had been delaying buying this book based on the one, three-star review which simply stated that the reviewer could have "passed" on this one...not enough "Wow" photos, or something to that effect. My fear was that, for the price, it would just be another rehash of the many published archival photos in the numerous volumes already in my personal library. But then another reviewer stated that 'just when he thought everything available in the world's archives had already been published, he discovered this book.' I am so glad I listened to this reviewer, and not the three-star one who turned out to be delightfully wrong! In my personal library are a great many good references on WW II armor including almost all of the Panzerwrecks series in soft-bound format. This second volume of "Forgotten Archives" is filled with some of the finest photographs of WW II armor that I've ever seen! Not only does it have many that have never been published before (as other reviewers have stated), but, for the life of me, I couldn't recognize any of them as being common or previously published in my other references. Many of them come from the private collections of the Signal Corps photographers who took them, now in the safekeeping of their descendants. In a few cases the author even met with the original photographers, still living, and was able to get their stories and details of their wartime experiences. Some of these photos came from their rolls of film marked by the censors as "Not For Publication" for some reason or another. These particular shots are POSITIVELY published in this volume for the first time ever! And, having already been marked as 'not for publication,' no censor had the chance to hide the vehicle markings which identified the unit to which they belonged (a common practice). So we get to see these vehicle markings exactly how they were stenciled by the troops in the field! Another rare treat! In short, it's a gold mine for those of us interested in this time period and hungry for the scenes we haven't seen before. And the vast majority of these photos are in the same format as the Panzerwrecks series: large, clear, full-page prints.I can't recommend this book enough. Forget what the three-star reviewer says (I haven't the slightest idea what he is talking about! It certainly can't be THIS book!). Get a copy before they are out-of-print. Or you will be sorry, and then subjected to the greatly inflated prices of rare gems in the publishing world! You all know what I'm talking about!

Best investment for the serious researcher!
Dollar for dollar this purchase was one of the best investments for my military library. Unparalleled detailed pictures offer inspiration for countless modeling projects. Well written and crisply printed, Forgotten Archives 2 will be anything but forgotten when I look for information.

Excellent books for Armor fans.
These books are awesome for fans of armor. The quality of the signal corp photos is better than all other war time photos - simply the best. I wish there was a third volume coming.

A modeler's dream
Just when you thought that all of the WW II pictorial research material had been published, Forgotten Archives hits the market. All new, excellent quality photos of the ETO. This book alone will keep armor modeling enthusiasts busy for at least a year. Every photograph is a diorama idea. If you're all about armor & military vehicles, this is the book for you.

Good follow-up to the excellent first volume.
Good follow-up to the excellent first volume. Stories of the photographers are an added bonus, bringing to life the men behind the cameras. These photos are from their private collections, and most have not been published before.

Great follow-up to the first volume
Good follow up to Volume 1 providing more fascinating photos of post-D-day action in northwest Europe. The basic format of taking the original Signal Corps captions and correcting and amplifying them remains in place and gives the viewer/reader a bit more information about who, what and where. There is an increase in use of non-captioned prints that I suspect were excluded from the first volume for that reason. This is a trivial point and does not take away from the value of this book for historians and modellers.

An excellent reference for those looking for the least known images
A fascinating collection in over sized format of the photos that were not included in the popular histories of the Second World War. An excellent reference for those looking for the least known images.

... was published and this second volume is just as good, if not even better
I was blown away when I first bought volume 1 when it was published and this second volume is just as good, if not even better! The addition of the smashing colour plates only serves to make this volume even better than the first volume in this series, and the fabulous photographs, mostly printed full page size, only continues the fine format we were introduced to in the first volume. This is the hallmark of the "Panzerwrecks" publications, and it's hard to argue with success. I look forward to, hopefully, more volumes in this series since the photographs are truly extraordinary! This book, like all the titles from this publisher, will appeal to military history enthusiasts and modellers alike. This book, alongside the first volume in this series, is destined to become a classic!

Fantastic book
Like volume one, this book is packed with great pictures, captions and information. Similar to the PanzerWrecks series, if you enjoy those, you will enjoy this one also.
