I love the Swindoll Study Bible
I am so thankful for the Swindoll Study Bible (SSB). First of all, I love the New Living Translation, which makes the Scriptures come alive to me so much more than ever. The words used are dynamic and hit me harder than previous versions. I can tell that the SSB was carefully and thoughtfully put together -- from the reader-friendly font size, type and color, to the super helpful summary of Searching the Scriptures, and from the practical OT/NT reading plan to the inspiring Holy Land Tour. Then there is the very handy concordance and topical index. And of course, Chuck's insightful notes across the Bible are gold and help me feel motivated to read the Bible and not intimidated by it. His notes drive home lessons extracted throughout the Scriptures, in easy yet pointed and profound ways. (There is, on average, one to two notes every chapter. Unlike the Swindoll New Testament Commentary series, the SSB does not provide an explanation on every verse.) It is like there is a whole new level of clarity of the Bible through the SSB. I am often awe-struck by the deep insights that Chuck is able to draw out from Scriptures. What I like about his insights is that they are sensible, well grounded on Scriptures, not far fetched, balanced, and yet deep and profound. The notes for Searching the Scriptures have also helped me take a stab at digesting the Word myself, and it is exciting. The bible reading plan included in the book is also practical, and I have been able to keep up with it two months into the plan--when I previously was rarely able to keep up with other reading plans. The one thing is, this hardcover copy may be a bit heavy to some, weighing 3.4 pounds. So this may not be something to carry around in and out of the house, but it has not been a problem for me because I read it at home most of the time. One may choose to use the digital version instead, since purchase of the paper back version provides five copies of the digital version, which I found to be very user-friendly and well made. In sum, I thank God for the enhanced understanding and access to His Words through the SSB.(An addendum that is not exactly related: I found the "God's Masterwork - OT & NT" audio podcast series by Chuck, available for free in the Insight for Living mobile app, to be super helpful in getting a birds eye view of each book of the Bible. I listened to those series before reading each book in the SSB and my understanding was enhanced by both resources.)

My hardcover has sewn binding published in China
I have verse by verse study bibles already. This study Bible gives great inspirational info and the book is a moderate size for a study Bible. Pages are easy to turn. Excellent two color pages. This one has durable sewn binding — 978-1414387253 published in China.I love the Holy Land tours in this study Bible, which is unique from what I have seen— beautiful.I also downloaded the Swindoll Study Bible app for free using the code on the inside of the back bible cover. It runs in the Tecarta bible app, which is a very good bible app. Easy to use and very flexible. You can mix study bible versions with different translations in Tecarta which is cool. Example, pairing the ESV translation with the Swindoll Study Bible, or any bible study combinations that you have installed. There’s an option for parallel translations if you turn the phone sideways. Example: NLT on left and KJV on right.Super easy to highlight, take notes, etc. Thanks for the free digital Swindoll Study BIBLE app to go along with the physical Bible.Inspirational, life changing from within, beyond the typical doctrinal infighting which Christians need to get beyond in this crazy world we live in. Helping people, not destroying them is the answer!Update: I just bought the 2018 large print hardcover and it is sturdily sewn now. Thanks Tyndale.

An excellent study Bible for all levels
It's been a couple of decades since I purchased my Thompson Chain Study Bible, and I decided to go for this one based on the recommendations. I'm really glad I did. Reading this Bible is a very different experience from the Thompson which is more about theological study and cross-referencing and such. The Swindoll Study Bible is more like a journey through with this fantastic theologian.I've listened to Chuck Swindoll since I was a kid and always found him to be one of the most clear biblical teachers out there. He doesn't get into the fluff of opinion, but just sticks to the word. He does, however, bring his pastoral perspective into both his preaching and into the sections and notes in this study Bible. On every single page there are his thoughts and perspectives ranging from full-page articles and multi-page introductions to each book, to short paragraphs about verses. You don't have to agree with everything he says to get a lot from this Bible. In fact, if you do agree with him completely, maybe that's a sign to dig deeper.I would very much recommend this, and have already recommended it since receiving it. I'm working my way through my focus books of Genesis, Nehemiah, Psalm, Daniel, John, Hebrews, and Revelation. I've been focusing on these books for the past couple of years and have read them in multiple translations and have gone through several studies and commentaries on each. This is a great way to get a new perspective on these powerful books.
