good book
I'm trying to eat even healthier by eating more greens and veggies in general. This helps me come up with a lot of ways to have smoothies so that I have a variety. I like most of the recipes (just some ingredients I don't like in general). If you like smoothies and want to have them all the time, this book will help you with that.

The Green Smoothie Recipe Book: Over 100 Healthy Green Smoothie Recipes to Look and Feel Amazing
Mendocino Press’s The Green Smoothie Recipe Book is a interesting packages. Split into two parts (much like The Quick and Easy Paleo Cookbook by Telamon Press), The Green Smoothie Recipe Book spends the first part of the book filling you with information that they believe you need to know before proceeding with the recipes. However, I would openly admit that the first part of the book is filled with things that most people picking up the book would and should know and a lot of it could easily be discarded. I did find that the bit about how to properly make your smoothies terribly interesting and made me realise that I had been going about making my smoothies wrong the entire time. Aside from that, most of the information was information I was already aware of and knew so admittedly, I skimmed through the first part. The second part, the recipes, is split into different types of smoothies. Starting with beginner smoothie recipes and following it with breakfast smoothies, super green smoothies, smoothies for weight, detox and cleansing, smoothies for disgestive health, smoothies for healthy skin and hair, green energy, low-fat smoothies, and green smoothies kids will love. As someone who loves getting their hands on recipes to try, having 100 of these at my disposal is like a haven for me. I absolutely love how simple the recipes seem and the only problem I have is that there aren’t any pictures to show love absolutely gorgeous the smoothies can come out.Overall, the book is a good coffee table book or a nice read over when having a cup of tea/coffee or need a new drink for a meal or snack. It has moments where it’s too draggy and not informative enough.

A Good How-To But Some Clarification Needed
All green smoothies have leafy greens blended with liquid, fruits, vegetables, and embellishments, preferably fresh and organic.Recipes list ingredients in the order added for best results. There is guidance on selection and storage of produce and use of necessary tools, but the advice that bottled water users should “make sure the plastic bottles contain no BPA” assumes readers know what “BPA” is and how to make sure.Other points need clarification. Who knew that acid “raises the pH level of the blood” and that “alkalizing the body” lowers pH? If antioxidants “protect your cells” why eat foods that “improve tissue oxygenation”?Such inconsistencies support neither the “Green Smoothies for Health” claims nor the warning that the “toxic twenty foods should be consumed only if they are organic.”

Dust off the blender and let's get healthy!
The Green Smoothie Recipe Book is a must for anyone on the go. Not only are the recipes simple and delicious, but this is also an education on the benefits of fruits and vegetables and how important they are to our diets and well being. The benefits of fruits and vegetables have always been known, but it's not so easy to get the daily allowances while juggling today's non-stop lifestyles. Besides, what kid hasn't turned up their nose at a pile of slimy spinach with their mom telling them it will make them big and strong regardless of the foul odor! Mom's can use this book as a weapon to get their kids to eats vegetables without even knowing it, making green smoothies that taste as good as any ice cream they could be begging for!!Green smoothies are healthier than using a juicer because you are incorporating all the fiber that juicers remove. The incorporated fiber from green smoothies fills you up so you don't feel hungry, gives you more energy and keeps you going longer. Each green smoothie recipe contains leafy greens such as kale or spinach, along with all the traditional combinations of fruits and vegetables, so they are a natural way to boost your immune system, lose weight, prevent diabetes and heart disease, and even prevent cancer. The book also teaches you to shop for the ripest product, proper storage, prepping, and even freezing tips to prevent waste.I found this book to be very informative and have already tried a couple recipes. I am ready to start replacing my fast food runs with delicious green smoothies!!

Not just a recipe book!
Contrary to the title as a "recipe book", this is a great beginner’s guide to smoothie making, covering bases that a lot of books of this kind ignore. This book offered an overview of smoothie making, and represented it in an interesting way as a lifestyle that anyone can adapt to as opposed to a passing weight-loss fling. One thing that surprised me about this guide was how much I felt I could trust it. It included a lot of information about how the body absorbs the nutrients from the smoothies. Before reading, I couldn’t decide whether to learn more about the juicing or smoothie making, but this book taught me about how much more nutritious smoothies can be, because of all the goodness you don’t lose through a high-powered juicer – this book comprehensively covers how smoothie making is better for dieting and weight loss, which is why I read it.
