You get what you pay for
I ought these for the occasional transporting of wood or long items and considering the price they are fine for my intended use.You will need to consider that these are made to a price and are quite a faff to fit to the car.Fitting consists of undoing a long hex bolt to open the claw, you need to do both sides before mounting on the car. Now the fun starts. The both claws on each bar are very free to move and will easily whizz along the bar, the plastic insert on top of the bar is also free to move, and does until you fix it in place with a dab of superglue. When you finally fit the claws they need to be tightened, again with the hex key.I have manufactured some simple stops to keep the claws in place. These bars were less than a quarter the price of the Ford ones.

Reasonable Cross Bars But Not As Advertised
The cross bars arrived very promptly and were well wrapped. Unfortunately, the cross bars did not fit my 2016 Ford Kuga as advertised (i.e. to fit a Ford Kuga 2008 to 2017). The problem is the adjustable block on the cross bars is bigger than the available height provided by the Ford Kuga roof rails which means the cross bars rest on the cars roof not on the roof rails. I would have returned the item but unfortunately I had recycled all the packaging so being a retired toolmaker I put my previous skills to use and cut part of the adjustable block away to make them fit. This I imagine has lost some of the cross bars integrity and invalidated and warranty, although the cross bars as delivered (see Note Below) and Ford Kuga's roof rails seem a little frail so I won't be putting massive weights on them. Note: The cross bars were not as strong as some Thule cross bars I have which were unfortunately not wide enough to fit the Ford Kuga).

Item does not fit a Mk2 Kuga.
It was stated these fit a Mk2 Ford Kuga with roof rails. They do not fit as per the design of the item. When fitted the feet of the bars sit on the roof, not resting on the bar. Therefore potentially damaging the paintwork. There is a gap between the top of the roof rail and the foot of the roof bar. Therefore all the weight will be on the roof and not the rail. The locking mechanism is cheap and insecure in my opinion.

Bars are cheap and hence have some issues
Get a whistling sound coming from the bars starting at 40 mph as you get up to 70mph this turns into intense humming vibration. This give a unbearable noise and forces you to slow down. Researched this on the web and found that this is due to hollow gap in the bars, as these bars fit many different models. Tapped up the gap on the underside of bars and this cured the whistling and humming vibration.
