Airspun Loose Powder Translucent

Does it have a mild old lady smell? Yes, but that’s fine with me. To me it smells a bit like roses which I like and the scent dissipates pretty quickly. I don’t wear much makeup but I do use a lot of different products on my skin. Ive been using loose powder to set my sunscreen for a while but I didn’t like how caked on I looked and felt with the other products I tried. I was recommended this and I’m glad I tried it. It gives a barely there look and feel but it blurs really well. My sunscreen doesn’t move at all. It looks very natural on my skin which is what I like. I didn’t like the powder puff it came with so I use a big fluffy brush. This is now my go-to.

My grandmother used this brand so I’ve known about it for a very long time. Since my skin is on the oily side, it helps to set my foundation for the day. I’ve never found a product I liked better than this for setting make-up. It’s not something I carry with me though, as it can get messy. I use blotting papers if any oiliness starts to show towards the end of the day. Now my teen daughter has started using it as well. It has literally been used for generations in our family. The color we use most is called naturally neutral. I have very fair skin. My daughter has tan skin and it works well for us both.

I've been using this powder for decades, and so has my mother. It's a classic that holds up to the test of time, when other powders come and go. Reasonably priced and works well every time. I've tried other powders and always come back to this one. I'm so glad they still make it.

I remember back in the late 60's and early 70's sneaking into my mom's make-up drawer in the bathroom to use this same powder. I have been using the original for years, and never really minded the smell since it goes away once applied. This is first time using the talc-free translucent formula. The smell is lighter- a bit citrus or lemon scent, but the coverage is what made the biggest impression. I am not wrinkly nor scarred, but habits of a lifetime of not wanting to be shiny or blotchy make me so happy this provides an even, matte and bright pearly finish. I have found the pads from the old container are much better than the sponge pads so I just wash them and reuse.... UPDATE: 6/19/25 for me this powder still looks beautiful, but I started noticing a grainy texture to my face and little hard bumps that I never had before, then followed by some painful red patches, that have persisted. I did a bit of research of discussions on this new formula with many preferring the original, and though I am still not sure it was this powder, it is the only thing in my simple make up process for decades that is different, and I'm not really liking other brands so I will be ordering the original formula.

This translucent powder is definitely a favorite of mine especially for this price. There is plenty of powder in this case and lasts quite a while. It doesn't beat the Laura Mercier translucent powder but I still love it. I have tried other powders but they were not worth the money or left orange marks on my face.

The product wears well but I hate the scent. Smells like soap to me.
