I have used these in both Preppy and a Prefounte and they have worked really well! Perfect for if you want to use some fun colors of ink rather than the standard cartridges. I keep a preppy and a prefounte in my purse and haven't had any problems with leaks with these so I can definitely recommend them.

These converters fit the Platinum Preppy, Prefounte and Plasair only. Once fitted the pen only fills a very small amount of ink from an ink bottle, about 10 percent max. You have to take the converter out and fill it straight from the ink bottle if you want it to fill more completely, but even then, the little bearing gets in the way, so you have to slant the converter while filling. Poor design, but ultimately workable for a preppy but be ready to get your fingers inky.However, this converter does NOT fit the Procyon, 3776, or the President. Weird, I know, since all these pens happily accept the same Platinum ink cartridge, but the converter is too loose on these pens. You need the $15 OEM converter for these pens.

To some extent these are better than the rotating plunger version they substitute for - cleaning out a pen is faster and effective. I've used them for months without leaks. But a benefit I hadn't thought of when buying they are great for use with shimmering inks which have particles that will fall out of solution. The design includes a ball bearing to help break up air bubbles and restore ink flow. However, it is great for easy agitation of the glitter - just gently rotate the pen 180 from nib down to nib up several times and the shimmer particles are stirred up and your ink is ready to dazzle.

I usually fill converters with a fountain pen syringe, and I find that particularly helpful with these. The suction isn't that great. But then the syringe method is easier with almost all converters and makes it easier to keep the ink from becoming contaminated, so that's hardly a concern for me.They fit the preppy no problem. They are not standard converters and won't fit all pens, but they do work with most of the platinum line. These also work well with the Kuretake brush pens. I actually use them in that more than in the preppy. No leaking, no issues with either and they don't give me trouble starting after first filling. The little ball keeps air pockets from forming and making problems with the ink flow.Overall, these are better designed than the price point would let on, I wish some of the higher end converters (Waterman, I'm looking at you) would perform half so well.
