Magikarp, known in Japan as Koiking (30B3;30A4;30AD;30F3;30B0; Koikingu) is a Pokmon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokmon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Magikarp first appeared in the video games Pokmon Red and Blue and subsequent sequels. They have later appeared in various merchandise, spinoff titles and animated and printed adaptations of the franchise. Known as the Fish Pokmon, Magikarp is found in many bodies of water, especially lakes, rivers, and ponds. It is mostly useless, until it evolves into the superior Pokmon, Gyarados.
