WYZE Cam OG Indoor/Outdoor 1080p Wi-Fi Smart Home Security Camera with Color Night Vision, Built-in Spotlight, Motion Detection, 2-Way Audio, Compatible with Alexa & Google, Black, Free Expert Setup

I installed the Wyze Cam OG Wireless Camera above my garage and it has been working since Oct 2024. I opted to upgrade to their Cam Plus software. It's pretty cheap and gives you a lot more flexibility. The camera is easy to install... it talks to you during the installation so you have a good feel if you're doing it correctly. The thing that really amazes me is the price. I paid $19.95 (it was on special) but I believe now it's only a couple of dollars more. Be aware this camera requires power. Some people prefer batteries but I opted for power since the outlet was on the wall right behind the camera. I figured if it worked for a year I would have gotten my money's worth so it's only fair to say that I highly recommend the camera.

I just bought four of these little cameras in the last month. They are very reasonably priced and I was afraid they wouldn’t be of good quality. I was wrong. The pictures are clear, the colors are crisp. The app is easy to use and has many useful functions and options for settings. The whole set up of cameras and app took about 5 minutes each. They are very responsive to movement and sound and you can adjust the sensitivity. I like that you can set a “detection zone” if you want to cut down on extraneous detections, so instead of monitoring the entire front yard I can just set it to detect if someone actually comes onto my porch if I want. I like that I can also hear what’s outside when in the live mode (and speak to someone outside). The siren, microphone and spotlight work very well. You can set it to make an audible “WYZE” tone outside if it detects someone OR to let them know they are being recorded. I actually have a couple of mine sitting on outside window ledges with the cord coming in under the window to plug in. The cords are flat so it works. The others are mounted outside near outlets and they came with what you need to mount them. I’m not paying for the iCloud storage for the videos because I don’t need it. And since I’m not doing the advanced monitoring there are functions that I don’t get. But that is ok for me right now. Overall, I’m very happy with them. Considering getting one more. You can look back through the recording and they are marked where there were sound/movement detections. My only negative is that you can look back at the video on the app in 30 second increments rather than actually “scrolling” so you could miss something that wasn’t detected. If I take the SIM card out and put it in my laptop I can do more of a “scroll”. I have had a few episodes of verified movements that weren’t detected/notified/marked on the video but nothing big. That aside, I highly recommend. And I’ll add that 10 days after getting these one of my cameras recorded a neighbor’s trailer being stolen. So while I didn’t have the alarm/notification set to go off overnight on that particular camera I was able to give them the footage which they say has been helpful.

We purchased this camera to install in the main area of our home to keep an eye on an elderly parent while we are away. The wide angle lens makes it possible to see movement across the entire living room. The night vision is also perfect. It was super easy to install. It took me approximately 2 minutes. We feel much happier being able to launch the app from anywhere and make sure that everyone is doing fine. The microphone works well as long as you are holding your phone away from your face. The speaker works very well also. We really like this product.

Would have been my 1st OG. I own 6 older Wyze cams (v3, v2, Pan Cam). Right away I could tell the superior video quality of this model. The camera was just a few feet from the router, but it was really sluggish and couldn't stream video for more than a few seconds. I did an online search and it seems the higher quality requires an internet service that isn't slow like mine. The video played fine in all the older cameras.I contacted Wyze tech support and they offered many things to try...it seemed to work at one point but then it went back to being slow.I assumed that it was either a dud or (more likely) my internet speed too slow, so I ended up returning it. I had purchased another OG for a friend and he had no issues with the video cutting off.

These cameras are awesome for being so easy to set up and inexpensive. Have 5 of them, an older V2 and 4 OG's. Clarity is great. Sometimes one will go off line but come right back when I open the app, (I don't have the greatest wifi either..lol.) Thinking of getting the floodlight version for outside as I have read decent reviews on it too. I wasn't looking for high tech just something to check on the house and yard when not at home and these definitely do the trick! Motion detection just gives me pictures on the app right now as I don't pay for the subscription but I just got SD cards so will see how the recording is with them. Otherwise they do what I need them to do!
