It was boxed with extra strong cardboard and re enforced with wood where needed and pieces wrapped to keep safe. Arrived perfect and well built. All the problems others complained about in similar systems were taken care of in this model. No leaking and baffles to aid in feeding the apples without clogging. The blades are incredibly strong. Very beefy machine. I have been using a 1 horse Wasteking disposal grinder following with the Whizbang press and it's wonderful and so easy to clean but grinding the apples with this was so fast!!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Just dropping the clean apples in was a blessing. Says it's all stainless so I would imagine it will last for many many years. It's a beast!!! I did get a Spacecare dolly from Amazon which is working great to wheel it around...has locking wheels. Love it. Fun!

It is a great little machine but not the easiest to clean. I have to stick my hands in there to find all the apples stuck. (Of course, unplug the machine while you are doing this.) I have small hands. You might need a flexible brush to get in there. Apple chunks get stuck in the hidden sections of the machine. Also, there will be a lot of apples stuck on the front underside plate. Be sure to scrap that off so you get all your apples.Start the machine again a couple of days later since you will still miss apple pieces and you don't want that dried stuff in your new apple cider.

Works great!

We make cider from a home orchard. This was a game changer from the hand-powered grinder. The apples are ground very fine so there is a bit more "residue" in the cider, but that makes it taste richer. (Still, this may be personal preference.) Our oldest sons left for college, and we weren't sure how we were going to make cider without them. This grinder makes pressing faster and easier, too. I don't know how it will hold up over years' of use since it's new, but we poured a bit of veg oil inside the machine to coat the blades and wrapped it in a sheet before storing it in the basement. I want it to work forever!! (And the design is basic, so hopefully it will)

This grinder is an absolute beast, if the apples are too big it can cause a feeding issue, I just used a 1” PVC pipe with cap to clear any feeding jams. With apples 3.5” apples you can dump 5 gallon buckets down the chute and t barely slows down it is great. We make 120 allows of cider a year, it only takes about 5 hours with 4 people from tree to barrel using this grinder and a 160L bladder press.The machine is built with a heavy gauge Stainless steel and it is quite rugged

Need better instructions besides clean after use

When I received my EFC-1 and unpackaged it had some minor shipping damage. The instructions for damage was to contact the manufacturer. After reaching out the manufacturer informed me that it was AMAZONS problem with the shipping damage. So I called AMAZON and they wanted me to ship it back for A refund and then repurchase. I tried to explain to the customer service rep that it was only cosmetic damage and if AMAZON could just send me the parts which I would install myself. AMAZON informed me that they could not send the parts being that the EFC-1 was A 3rd party purchase. So instead of shipping back to AMAZON I contacted the manufacturer A second time, I explained and sent pictures of the damaged parts and they are shipping me the replacement parts that should have been the responsibility of AMAZON.This Company is A standup Company by doing their part in reducing our carbon foot print..... Doing what AMAZON should have done in the first place.

This grinder easily turned even very large and hard apples into pomace very quickly with moderate power use. We wanted a fast, easy-to-clean, durable grinder that would create pomace with mixed particle sizes that were not excessively small to facilitate cider pressing. We have had grinders that made larger pieces that didn't extract as much juice, and we have had grinders that turned the pomace into applesause that squirted applesauce all over the kitchen when we tried to press the juice out of the pomace. This was the "Goldilocks" solution in that everything was "just right". We added a 1/2" by 3/8" stainless steel shim, about 0.030" thick, between the central motor sharft and the grinding plate, lower cutting blade, and upper cutting blade. This made for a more snug fit between the parts and will probably improve the longevity of the unit. We notified the company of this issue. Also, the shipper manage to dump the shipping box upside-down at some point and the upper cutting blade was broken. We notified the company and had a replacement part in 5 days. The unit is very easy to clean. We just put a 6-by-6 wooden block under the motor to hold it up, then remove the 4 motor mounting nuts, pulling the netire tube and motor cover off in one piece for any easy rinse-through. We then tilt the motor assembly toward its "spout" side and run water over it, patting it dry with a towl when done. We are VERY satisfied.
