Q: What type of plastic is it made from?

Pretty cheap plastic tbh. But ok for a beginners set. Certainly won't make a decorative feature. The draughts pieces are NOT magnetic.

100% plastic in wood colour apparently from my recent order!!

Q: Can the pieces be stored within the folded chessboard?

If you receive the set shown on the picture, the pieces fit in nicely. I have ordered two identical sets and both came different, one as on the picture and one much smaller, cheaper looking and rather cheap and nasty, not opened that one as sending it back

I have ordered two sets, one came just like on the picture, the board is magnetic and so is the clasp. A very decent product, the second one (exactly the same order) came made of cheap plywood, metal clasp and much smaller than the first one. so i suppose you get what comes. I'm sending my second one back
