Chin Chin!
These are great little cubes! I purchased them because I had gotten my father the soapstone whiskey stones a while ago (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IZDVLTI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and, while those are indubitably classier, these are somewhat more practical. They come in a plastic case, instead of a muslin bag, which is compact and exactly suited for freezer storage and for removing the stones from the freezer without touching them. They are made of stainless steel, which is hypoallergenic, easy to clean, does not taint the taste of the drink, is very very VERY durable and looks amusingly shiny. Anyone who says they are not amused by shiny objects has tired of life. The internal gel sloshes about like a tiny-rain stick, forecasting deliciousness, when not frozen, and then transforms into a frozen block. You then put this into your drink, and your drink stays cold for a long time without being watered down. I've only used them with whisky and scotch but I'd wager they work well with beer or even white wines, as well.My only quarrel is that you only get 4 - I will buy more next time, for sharing. Well, that and that the dimensions are 2.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 inches - these are therefore Ice Cubes that are neither ice, nor cubes - discuss.I received this product for free or at a discounted rate in exchange for product testing and review. If your goal is to cool a short drink of alcohol without diluting it
If your goal is to cool a short drink of alcohol without diluting it, these will work fine. I had another purpose.I want to track how much water I drink each day. I strongly prefer that water be cold. But I don't have a water cooler, and I don't want to open the fridge every time I need a refill. So I fill Genuine Joe GJO11956 Stainless Steel Everyday Double Wall Vacuum Insulated Carafe, 2L Capacity in the morning, plus Hot or Cold - Stainless Steel Drink Tumbler - Double Wall Vacuum Insulated -18oz. Capacity - Matte Black .By the end of the day, the carafe doesn't have enough cold water to maintain the cold, so I need ice. But that skews the quantity of water, and since water expands when it freezes, I'm not sure how much water I've really added. Hence my interest in these cubes.I wondered how well they would work, since part of the magic of ice is that it floats, and heat rises, so adding ice to liquid chills the whole drink because of the circulation that occurs. However, since I'm adding these cubes to a tumbler and drinking through a straw, I'm drawing from the bottom where the steel cubes are doing their job.I hadn't thought of the fact that the cubes would be so heavy, and make it more difficult for me to know when my opaque tumbler was near empty. Not a big deal. Each cube weighs 1.1 oz; together with their plastic box they're 5 oz total. Each cube has 1" sides; their plastic box has dimensions 2.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 inches.I found that when using all 4 cubes, room-temp water got cold immediately, but only 2 cubes took quite a bit longer, and didn't last long either. (Remember that I'm cooling the bottom of a tumbler of water, not 2 fingers of scotch. However, if you're cooling a large glass of chablis, these cubes are small and will chill the content of the bottom of your glass.) So owning 4 cubes is not really enough when you want cold ones on hand for hours at a time. (Notice the product description says to freeze them for 3-4 hours. I suppose it would take less time if they are still cold-ish.)I'm glad these come in a plastic box. It makes handling them easier and I'd hate to fish them out of some other container used to hold ice in the freezer.I'm also glad these are cubes, and not some other shape. A 1" cube has surface area 6sq", where a sphere with 1" diameter only has 3.14sq" surface. And more surface area means more cooling contact. Even when one of the sides is only cooling the bottom of the glass, the cube still wins over the sphere.I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

They feel super cold when you take them out of the freezer ...
These do not do as much as I hoped they would. They feel super cold when you take them out of the freezer however this does not transfer to your drink. We tried using one or two and then all four but they just never worked as well as a normal ice cube would. Since I prefer my drinks to be cold I do not think I will be getting a lot of use out of these purely because they just do not work as well as I need them to.
