5/5 food porn, 2/5 practicality
A beautifully written tribute to the creative pursuit of excellence of cooking with fire. The author’s interesting journey and passion shine thorough. For a foodie, it’s nothing short of an immersive masterpiece. That being said, most recipes contain vague ingredients (long green pepper…???) and ingredients that most home cooks will never come across in their local grocery store. As a tribute to the the author’s determination and culinary talents, this is a great book. I do question the practical utility of the recipes for the general populace.

Great book
I bought this as a gift for my husband after watching the author on Chef’s Table. He loves the book. The recipes are a little out of reach for the basic home chef, but it’s got great information on cooking over fire in general.

It is not your prototypical cook book, it's an manifesto to cooking differently
The book is not only a collection of recipe (there are certainly plenty), but also approach & perspective. The knowledge and experiences of mastering cooking with fire is presented here from ingredient to the wood itself.
