So far so good...but how long will the honeymoon last...
Ok, this has to be the scariest Amazon purchase I have made in the last 17 years. It’s one of the more expensive ones, has only a 1 year warranty, and with almost any robot vacuum cleaner, there are always reviews with issues that may or may not be widely prevalent. And do these really last more than a couple of years without breaking down? So I am monitoring this thing like a hawk for 30 days, and any signs of subpar functionality will promptly earn it a return label.Warning: this review gets lengthy…I’ve been looking at vacuums for a while now. We have 3 kids ages 6 and under, and a dog. We have gotten to a point where our floors are not a disaster every day that I feel like a robot will not have many issues. Our main level is around 1200 sq ft wall to wall, evenly split between carpet and laminate.Mopping is a requirement, because food seems to end up on the floor daily. I was torn between an all in one vacuum, or getting a mopper and a vacuumer. I decided to splurge on this one because of mapping functionality. So far it has been in use for 2 weeks. Here is my experience thus far-Unboxing was straightforward, put a couple pieces together (actually my wife did it, and it worked, so I am assuming here), charge a bit and off it goes. We placed it in a front entryway under a bench for the base. That is on laminate, and most of the laminate is all connected, with a couple of area rugs on it. Carpet lies on both sides. I downloaded the app, setup an account, added the Deebot 930, and let it go about its job mapping. The mapping is pretty cool and fascinating to watch on the app as it discovers the house and marks off carpet and hard floors. It was not fully charged the first night, so I set the option for continuous cleaning, and it ended up going back and docking with the floor about 80% done, it charged, then went back and finished while we were sleeping.Since then, it vacuums around 60 square meters (the app keeps track) in right around an hour, then heads back to dock to charge. The battery is usually just under half at the end of the hour. It’s easy to empty the dustbin, though it’s not large. It does seem to pick up a decent amount of dirt and hair, not enough to replace real vacuuming but does well maintaining. I’ve sent it to vacuum a second time after an hour charging one night, and it still picked up a decent amount of dirt on the second pass, so more is better here as far as how often to vacuum. For mopping, that was a bit more challenging. It knows where the carpets are, and the first night it only mopped the entryway, then hit an area rug, and said it could not continue and was done. I tried removing the area rug, and it did the same thing. It seems it goes by the map, not by what it runs into. So I ended up removing the rugs, having it recreate the map, then sending it to mop. We have mopped about 6 times so far. It takes about 20 minutes to mop 29 square meters. We have only had it not return to base once because it got stuck in a corner on a memory foam rug in front of the sink. Since then I blocked that corner of the room off on the app’s map, so it just avoids it. That is nice to be able to use the app rather than 'boundaries' on the floor.I have only had one other issue so far, where I had set a custom area for it to clean on the map. Then the next time I had it vacuum it did half the house and said it was done. So I sent it out again, and it did a small but different section of the house, and said it was done again. I finally told it to clean Room B on the map, which it did. Then the next night when I had it clean, it went about cleaning the whole house as expected. I am not sure why it did not complete the house the evening before.Other side notes- we have plush carpet that has caused fits for some upright vacuums, so I was worried about a robot vacuum working on it. This one seems to handle it just fine. It also does a good job navigating. If I do not remove the chairs from the dining set, it is able to get in between the legs of the chairs, and do under the table. However, it does take a while as it tries to figure out where it can get through. Also, I have not had any issues with it losing the map, even when we had to relocate it to the base after it got stuck. I am able to get the mop plate on and off by only lifting the front end a few MM and not taking it off the charging base.Concerns I have are around the mapping- it only has one map, so if I put area rugs back down, it will update the map to mark the rugs as carpet, which will screw up mopping again. So removing the rugs, remapping, then mopping is a bit of a hassle to do 2 times a week.In summary, if you’re looking at this, know what to expect-It is not: a replacement for an upright vacuum, a floor scrubber, able to vacuum and mop at the same time- if the mop pad is attached it will only mop.It is: good for cleaning maintenance when you don’t want to do it yourself, good at navigating around the house, good at working in the dark.It does work with Alexa, so you can ask her to tell it to start cleaning. You only have 3 options or so, clean, stop, charge. It is not overly loud for a vacuum. It can get kind of loud rumbling over the hard floors, but it’s pretty quiet on carpet. And it is cool to be able to open the app on your phone at work, tell it to start cleaning, and then you watch on the map as it moves around the house real-time.Also, they just released a firmware update for the machine to fix mapping issues, and sent a personalized email to let users know about it. That was a nice touch. I have updated, and mopped, but not vacuumed. I am not sure I’ve had any issues that would be fixed by the update, but it’s nice to know they are addressing things still. The app is functional and I have not had issues with it. There’s probably some room for improvements with it too, which I hope they’re working on (it would be nice to be able to use one map for mopping and the other for vacuuming).Overall, I’m happy so far. If this thing continues to function as expected for a few years, I’ll consider it a worthwhile purchase. I’ll plan on updating this review as necessary or if issues occur that may be worth noting for others to consider in their purchase.

UPDATE July 2020 - 4th unit failed, BUY THE LONGEST WARRANTY YOU CAN
The media could not be loaded. 3rd (and final) UPDATE, July 2020 - Our 4th unit failed in late June 2020. This time it is an LDS error. The unit does not move from the dock. It will state that it is beginning cleaning but remains stationary and then alerts that it has an LDS error, please tap the LDS sensor. I contacted Ecovacs support but any help is denied since I am now out of the warranty period. Instead, they gave me the contact info for IFIXROBOT. Generally, Ecovacs was very helpful while we were under a warranty and even while it was slightly out of warranty. I understand their current position, which they are within their rights, however, to have 4 units fail is simply an abysmal track record. I have no idea what we could be doing to influence (if anything) such a high failure rate as we ran the robot once a day and regularly changed filters and brushes. I hope our experience is atypical but don't be surprised if you get 6-9 months out of the unit if you run it once a day. BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.2nd UPDATE SEP 2019 - Our Ozmo 930 is again experiencing erratic behavior. It will not recognize the dustbin is installed. I have reset the unit multiple times and gone through the Ecovacs checklist. I contacted Ecovacs support again today and will update this review as my claim progresses. Ecovacs has been responsive to claims with previous units, however, I am unsure how this 3rd unit claim will play out. Here is the lifespan of the units we received to date.Deebot #1 - July 20, 2018 - January 11, 2019Deebot #2 - January 20, 2019 - February 5, 2019Deebot #3 - February 11, 2019 - September 26, 2019We schedule our unit for a daily clean and empty the dustbin after every clean. Our house is a combination of slate, wood and area rugs. We have pets and kids but the house is kept tidy and clean. If the unit cannot withstand daily cleanings for more than 6-7 months, I cannot recommend the product especially at this price point.UPDATE FEB 2019 - We contacted Ecovacs in early January and obtained a replacement Ozmo 930 after our original unit stopped working properly. The original unit began running in circles and running in random patterns. Troubleshooting did not fix the issue. On January 14th a replacement was sent out. We received it on the 22nd. The replacement unit stopped vacuuming on February 4th with less than two weeks of usage. After troubleshooting yet again, Ecovacs notified us that another replacement unit will be sent out on February 8th. This will be our third Deebot Ozmo 930 since July 2018. We run our Deebot once daily and regularly empty the dustbin, service the brushes and filters per the manual. If this third unit malfunctions, I am unsure what we will do at that time. Ecovacs customer service is polite and attentive, however, some of the requests they posed during troubleshooting were actions I already took per my various emails to them. I assume this is just the result of a customer service rep following a set of protocols. It is a slight annoyance but we obliged and ran through the same steps we already took. I will update this review after our third unit has time to perform.ORIGINAL REVIEWVery rarely do I write reviews for products on Amazon, however, this product is significant enough that it warrants the time. We were hesitant to use a robotic vacuum as we thought it was more of a gimmick and wouldn't clean well enough. We have 3 large dogs with heavy coats as well as 2 pre teen boys. We use this on our first floor where there's a combination of slate tile (uneven surface) and natural wood floors covered with various types of rugs. The first floor is about 2000sqft and it takes Deebot about 85 minutes to complete the cleaning. My wife and I take pride in a clean, neat home so we were cleaning everyday to maintain the house to our standards with the dogs and the kids.BLUF - Great product, not perfect but it cuts down traditional cleaning time significantly. Dust bin is small, charge time is adequate to clean a 2000sqft first floor, mapping function works well although there are some quirks. I recommend this product to others. My assessment of our Deebot 930 -It works much better than we expected and we are glad we purchased this unit. Prior to Deebot, we used our Hoover Lynx cordless vacuums everyday to pick up dog hair, crumbs, dirt/sand. We run the Deebot once a day, sometimes twice. We no longer need to vacuum everyday, however, about once every week or two we will get our larger corded vacuum out to do a deeper clean on rugs. Deebot gets under furniture and hard to reach areas without much trouble. Be prepared to empty the dust bin at least once a cycle when you begin using Deebot as it will pick up more than you anticipate and the dust bin is small. I usually stop Deebot about halfway through the cleaning cycle to empty the dustbin. If you forget, the dust bin will back up and Deebot will begin piling up hair/dust/dirt and more or less run through the motions of cleaning but it won't have the capacity to pick up. Ideally, I wish the dustbin were about twice the size, however, I realize there's a lot packed into this unit and therefore, the dustbin size is limited. The mapping function works well but there are some quirks from time to time. Sometimes Deebot will get hung up under a particular chair in our living room and I will return it to the base. If you pick Deebot up, set it down and then allow it to continue, the map can become skewed as it doesn't always recognize where you picked it up and then set it back down. I find it best to return it to the station and allow it to clean again. Every now and then I will reset the map because the kids will pick it up and the stored map become distorted. The map will show an echo or a repeated room if you pick it up, move it and then let it go again. No worries as Deebot quickly learns the house again if you reset the map while it's at the charging dock. During the daytimes, I will pick up kitchen barstool chairs to allow Deebot to clean under that area as the legs are too narrow for Deebot to fit between and this doesn't seem to affect the mapping function. Deebot appears to continuously relearn the floor plan so whether the chairs are up or down, Deebot doesn't mindlessly run into things or skip areas.Moving onto sound levels, the unit is quiet enough to talk on the phone with it running in the same room or when you have guests over for a visit. I work from home and frequently talk on the phone with it running in the background. It's significantly quieter than a microwave and slightly noisier than a new quiet dishwasher. I have zero complaints about the noise level.Maintenance with Deebot - I usually pick up the unit and clean it off with a paper towel and cleaning solution about once every two weeks. I also clean the anti fall sensors as they can become dusty. If the sensors are dusty, you'll find Deebot slightly hanging over an edge. I wasn't sure why this was happening at first since Deebot would make an announcement but I wouldn't always hear it. When this happens (3 times in 2.5 months of using Deebot at least once a day), I pick Deebot up, turn it off and then wipe the unit down, cleaning the underside and taking the roller brush off to remove any string or hair. Place it back on the charging dock and hit the "auto" button to let it go back to its routine. It would be great if the Ecovacs app stored the announcements from the Deebot so owners could review the announcement as I'm not always in earshot of the robot.Overall, I'm quite pleased with our purchase. We have a complex floor plan and the mapping function works quite well. If Deebot gets hung up, return it to the docking station and allow it to continue from there for best results. Download and use the app in order to effectively manage your robot. If you want to cut down on your daily cleaning regimen, I strongly suggest you look hard at the Deebot 930. We don't use the Deebot's mopping feature as we like our steam mop, but, for daily use, the Deebot is a very welcome addition to our household. If you are hesitant to take the plunge, I can relate. We were too but we are now converts.

Moping no funciona
