Fun, cheerful, looks like a toy but works pretty well
This is a fun, cheerful and colourful mixer which falls short of being ‘pro’. But for semi-serious streamers and vloggers, the ones whose subscriber count doesn’t give them the budget for a pro grade mixer, this is perfectly adequate for most casual use. It’s not just the cheesy toy that the colourful LED lights make it look like.It generally works pretty well. The ports on the back are clearly marked and it’s a simple job to get it up and running as a sound device on Windows. It requires surprisingly little power so it can even be powered through the data cable if needed, though there is a separate USB-C port for that too. The instruction manual is really well presented, and gives a clear explanation of some of the functions, like the custom sound recording, simple enough for my kids to understand. The build quality is generally pretty good too. It’s a fairly heavy device that won’t slide around on a desk. There’s a good movement to the knobs and sliders, though they’re a little imprecise when you get to close-to-the-limit-but-not-the-limit. The buttons have a rubbery texture to them and feel very durable, but sometimes you do need to make sure you hit them with a good solid hit, like hitting a drum pad firmly- just stroking them with a light press doesn’t always trigger them. The sound quality is fine. Unlike some cheap USB-powered devices I’ve used in the past, there’s thankfully no hum here, and the overall quality of a mix from different inputs sounds reasonably crisp and clear, and pretty much as good as the quality of the audio you feed into it. The voice changer effects are really very cheesy and childish, but do sound on a par, pretty much, with some of the Minecraft videos for kids I’ve seen my kids watching. There are plenty of things that this mixer doesn’t do though, some of which may arguably have been realistic expectations for the price level. One important point is that it doesn’t work with USB-ended microphones, which a lot of junior or just-starting-up might have already bought themselves. There are other would-be-nice features that could’ve been added, for example automatic trimming of the custom sound recordings so that it’s easier to hit them punchily on a beat without an awkward bit of silence between the button press and the sound happening. The 48V phantom power button should’ve been a switch on the back of the device rather than a button in its own right, but otherwise the layout of buttons is fairly sensible.Style-wise it does look a bit like a kids’ toy version of a Novation Launchpad, and it certainly could be confused for a toy because of the lighting effects- and it could, potentially, be used as a toy. But this is also a decent budget-level mixer, well presented for vloggers or streamers.

Stream Like a Pro
I upgraded my mic recently, but my voice still sounded thin on streams. Enter the MAONOcaster G1 NEO! I was instantly impressed – the built-in preamp is a game-changer. My voice now sounds crisp and clear, just like the streamers I watch. Plus, it's got multiple jacks, so I can connect my mic, headphones, and even my phone for background music – no more switching cables mid-stream! The knobs are easy to use on the fly, and the RGB lighting adds a cool touch to my setup. However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Everything's made of plastic, which feels a bit flimsy compared to some mixers I've seen. Also, getting the volume just right at lower settings can be tricky – the gain control seems a bit jumpy. The instructions weren't super helpful either, and I had to do some online digging to figure out a couple things. For the price, the MAONO G1 NEO is a great way to take your stream audio to the next level. The sound quality boost is undeniable, and the multiple inputs make life easier. But if a super sturdy build and ultra-fine-tuned controls are dealbreakers, you might want to keep looking.
