Tough, overengineered thumb and wrist splint
After a pretty bad accident, my wrist had a small fracture. I guess I had been holding the steering wheel and took too much impact. Regardless, I was given a pretty flimsy wrist brace at the hospital, and found that it wasn't helping much. This wrist brace stabilizes my thumb and wrist far better, while still being relatively comfortable. It's highly adjustable, with three large velcro sections down my forearm, and one for the thumb. Each are easy to adjust with my off-hand because they have just a bit of body and rigidity. They are somewhat stiff and tough velcro, but it's never been a problem removing the brace. In the 'palm' area, down through the forearm, there's a wide long piece of aluminum. It's just stiff enough to hold your arm and wrist in place, but you can bend it if you really want to. That is a pretty handy feature as I needed a bit of an adjustment to be comfortable, but after I bent the aluminum, I wanted the brace to stay in place (which it did).Construction quality is great, if not overly well made. It's similar to a hiking bag. The stitching is strong, the material won't tear, and it has weight. Unfortunately it also gets warm and doesn't breath, but it certainly is appropriate if you expect rough handling, and it will last decades. Due to the size, it's pretty important you size this, as a too-large model won't work well. Just measure the wrist at the notch. All in all, a very high quality and tough brace that isn't expensive. It's well designed, made of great materials, and I think it's a bargain.

My wife found it very helpful.
Overall, my first impressions with this wrist brace were pretty good, after looking this over and trying it on. It fits good, and it's not too restricting. My wife had started getting pains in her hand and was worried she was beginning to get carpal tunnel syndrome, so she asked I order her a wrist brace. I found this one and decided to give it a try.She has been wearing it on and off for the past 3 or so months and says it has been very helpful. As mentioned before, it fits very snug, is adjustable via several straps, and provides no discomfort when being used for long periods of time. I personally haven't used it for more than a few minutes, but my wife uses it long term, wearing it for half a day or more when wearing it. She says it provides relief and keeps her from moving her wrist in ways that would potentially further damage it or make her nerve pains worse. If you're looking to get a new wrist brace or replace an old, worn-out one, then I'd suggest looking at this one. We've had nothing but good results with it so far now. I give it a thumbs up.

Wonderful support, well made
I am dealing with various wrist and thumb issues, and had tried a different brace that just didn't work for me, because it required the thumb to be outstretched next to the fingers, as though all 5 fingers were spread out flat on a table. My hand really rebelled against that position. This new brace is very different: the thumb goes in a much more natural (for my hand, anyway) position, slightly in front of the pointer finger, and it feels just wonderful. The straps are very adjustable, and the brace is substantial enough to provide wonderful, firm support when my hand is tired and sore, and just wants to be stabilized and quiet for a while. Everything about the brace seems to be well solid, durable, and well put together. The thumb can be strapped securely in place, but if a little movement feels better, straps can be loosened. The medium size fits my rather medium sized hand perfectly. The current price seems very reasonable for a very substantial product. Having been told to expect a rather long recovery period, I am very grateful and relieved to have this brace, and recommend it to others dealing with similar issues.

On the small side, but supportive
Though I measured my wrist three times to make sure before ordering this, I guess I should have sized up to a large. While the box and tag say this is a 'medium', the actual width is just 6", so I wonder if some were mislabeled as that is the uppermost measurement for a 'small' sized brace. The brace still fits, but there isn't very much velcro left to secure the straps and the spandex-style fabric is stretched just about to its limit and is a little too tight for optimal comfort.Even with the sizing fluke, this brace is really supportive. I broke my wrist at the joint a few years ago, and every so often if I overwork it I need some kind of supportive brace to help with the pain. The relief was almost instantaneous after sliding this on. The position of the thumb sleeve is more natural-feeling than some of the other braces I have, and that is one key component in whether or not a brace like this is comfortable to wear. Sometimes the thumb sleeve is at such a wonky angle or is where the end of the metal/plastic stick is at that it causes more pain to wear the brace, and being labeled a "medical device" means often I can't return an uncomfortable brace. Now that I know the thumb sleeve isn't a deal-breaker, I've ordered this brace in a large so I have a better fit.Like most wrist braces, this one is hand washable. Simply slide out the aluminum bars prior to washing, and use a gentle soap and allow to air dry. If you have pets, be aware their hair will work its way into the hook-and-loop areas of the velcro and don't necessarily come out when this brace is washed. The shorter your pet's hair, the worse it weasels into the fabric. A pair of needle-nosed tweezers works great if you have the patience! If your hands tend to sweat a lot, you can slip in a long non-stick bandage in between your skin and the brace to help absorb any wetness and keep the inside of the brace cleaner (a couple of folded tissues or paper towels work just as well though can be more irritating). It's also nice that this brace isn't designed to be ambidextrous. Personally I find those braces don't fit as well at the top, especially if they have a thumb sleeve. You have to switch the position of the metal or plastic supports, but there seems to always be a gap or bulge in the fabric which affects the wear of the brace and can chafe against skin. Just make sure to order the correct brace, and to size up for the most comfortable fit.
