Q: Can someone give me the measures on the block? I really wouldnt like to have the block standing outside the cavity.

I know this is an old question, but I figured I'd help out the others who come along later with the same kinds of questions. You need to measure the string spacing on your trem first. It'll be either 2-1/16" or 2-3/16" from E to E. Once you know that, only THEN can you begin to search for a bridge replacement. Otherwise you'll get a bridge that won't line up to the holes in your guitar. Once you have the string spacing, then you can go to worrying about the depth of the block.

Q: Will this be an upgrade for my squier vintage modified 70's? my guitar specs calls it the same thing, but is it better material or the same?

I have just fitted one to my Classic Vib 60's and it fits perfectly. In fact I tried it on Classic Vib 70's, it was a perfect fit too, so I have ordered another for that guitar too. The mounting screw holes align perfectly and the string spacing is the same
