As Described and Expected
Arrived in good time. First time installation on a MacBook (an older, black one, late 2007) couldn't have been more simple - two minute job. (Would be even less a second time.) Kudos to Apple here: 'It just works!' POT (power on time) of six hours after install and configuration (Basic clean install of OS 10.6.8 less than 1/2 an hour.) show it to be a new drive - not a demo or reconditioned. All other parameters - 100% health. In short, all that it should be.Although not an enormous drive, perhaps more reliable; it was the higher-spec alternative to the 160GB (Seagate Momentus) on offer when the computer was bought, so it seemed sensible to consider this something like 'more native' in preference to a larger capacity HDD. The original drive has done very well, having been in constant use for over six years, and gradually failing for about a year. (Just grateful I managed to swap it out in time!)I gladly sacrifice a bit of capacity for greater likelihood of reliability. As this drive has been in production and use for many years and its smaller, half-size counterpart has done well, it seems the best bet to me. Time will tell, but so far so good - I'm entirely satisfied.
