Q: Will this work for 7" tablets?

Yes, it should. It is diagonally adjustable. One side fixes to a rough position (there are set locations for the corner piece) while the other side is a free slider to allow adjustment to the specific size of the tablet. A very nice mount.

Q: Will this fit the kindle fire 10hd?

It’s not that good of a product find something else

Q: How thick can the tablet be to fit? I have a samsung galaxy note 10.1 in a folding leather case with a keyboard in it.

The corner grips on the Bentley have a half in space. (.5) So the for it to fit a case it has to be inside that dimension. I have a Kindle Fire 10 and could not hold my tablet but works great without it. A thinner case may work but I am not knowledgeable on that.

Yeah I believe you could. Mine I used screws.
