Shea Moisture Pure Jamaican Black Castor Oil, 1.6 Ounce

Don't buy this as an add-on item shipped by Amazon, I received a counterfeit oil from them. Authentic monoi oil is VERY strongly perfumed...like unbelievably fragrant. It should smell like a tropical gardenia. The monoi oil I received had no scent at all -- dead giveaway that it's a counterfeit. Its texture was also thin and lightweight like grapeseed oil -- but authentic monoi oil is made from a base of coconut oil, which solidifies when under 76 degrees, and even when the weather is warmer it often has a milky translucent look, or some solid white chunks floating in the bottle. So the thin, clear texture was a definite sign that this was NOT monoi! I will try re-ordering from a different seller. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up of what to look for, just in case this is your first time trying monoi oil. Basically, it should smell heavenly, and have a slightly thicker texture.

Using it for thick eyebrows, does the job beautifully, eyebrows have little to no gaps anymore and look full and healthy. Love it!

This is great quality oil! The bottle has a pump but it can sometimes be hard to get the product out. I find it works better if warmed up a bit under hot water. It's more expensive than the regular yellow oil, but I like the consistency better, which is why I purchased it instead. I use it for hair, scalp conditioning, as well as eyebrows and lashes which at my age I feel are thinning rather too much. NOTE: It contains residual ash from the roasted castor beans.This is why it's black and why no one should use black castor oil internally unless they consult a doctor.

The last two orders I received were spoiled and smelled rancid. It was solid so I ran it under warm water to melt it and it was obviously not normal. Little round balls settled to the bottom and after shaking it dissolve but smells putrid..

This product made such a difference in my daughter’s hair! She has 4b hair that looked great when I first did it but would look dry once it completely dried. This product keeps it looking healthy and moisturized all day! I can tell such a huge difference from the coconut oil I was using before. I’m so glad I purchased this because we won’t be going without anymore. It’s difficult to get out of the bottle because it’s so thick, but I mix it together in my hand with the leave-in conditioner and curling cream so it never feels sticky to me. I highly recommend you give this oil a shot!

Wow. I really wanted this to work, but as soon as I opened it, instant disappointment. It simply smells like rancid coconut oil. Nothing more. The worst part is that it smells RANCID. If it were just plain coconut oil smell, it wouldn’t be as awful. Please, don’t do it. If you look at other reviews in here, check which product they’re reviewing. It sounds like this manufacturer’s Jamaican castor oil is incredible. But I cannot recommend this product AT ALL.

This oil is great for sealing in moisture, and for hot oil treatments too. I also like to use this to thicken my edges and it's working great after only a first time use.

The pump is weak and barely any comes out with each press, then as I begin massaging it into my daughter's hair that smell hits me! It smells like an ash tray! It took a while before I pinpointed that the smell was from this product! It is not a pleasant scent and actually smells gross and I'm quite surprised because I have loved every Shea Moisture product I've used. This was disappointing and you can find genuine Jamaican Black Castor Oil online without this smell.

I like it soften my hair. I am grateful the quick delivery and felt blessed I got it. Smell is tolerable. I applied it on my face overnight, T zone almost grew 30 of blackheads overnight. Luckily it is reversible. It means it is safe products.I love to use it all over my hands and hair. It is a great oil for body skin & hair, except facial care.

Other brands give better results. I’ve used other products by this brand but was not impressed by this product. Also, I guess that because castor oil is really thick in consistency, the pump provided is useless. Only plus for me is that the smell is pleasant..well as pleasant as can be.

I'm very happy with my skin results after 2 months use this oil :)

Great for aging dry skin and hair treatment

Me ha salvado de piel extremadamente reseca (incluso ya con cortaduras) aplicando solo por las noches o con crema para manos, me ha ayudado para las puntas resecas de mi cabello (las sella e hidrata), cuando he tenido resequedad en el cuero cabelludo lo he aplicado antes del baño y me hidrata y me quita la descamación (no caspa), si mi cabello está muy apagado lo aplico antes de la crema para peinar y lo super hidrata (no lo recomiendo para uso diario) para mis uñas y cutículas antes o después de haberlas pintado me hidrata y siento que me ha ayudado a que crezcan más fuertes y bueno una maravilla junto con el shampoo de jamaican black, ya que lo he aplicado en el cuero cabelludo en la noche y despues uso el shampoo y activa aún más el crecimiento, hasta para desmaquillarme lo he utilizado pero no lo recomiendo mucho para eso ya que es muy espeso y si nunca han usado aceites para eso se mete muy facilmente al ojo y puede lastimarse. En general es como el aceite de ricino que nos daban nuestras mamás pero de mayor calidad y concentración, solo hay que saberlo usar. Sin aromas artficiales lo que agradezco ya que garantiza que es natural, no huele mal pero no huele a rosas.
