If you're already solid on both your electric circuits and beginning knowledge in motors and controls, this is a fabulous reference for use in the field. Tons of schematics clearly show (for those who can read them) differences in internal construction for virtually every kind of industrial motor and external hook-up wrining for every possible configuration, including PB's, motor controllers, etc. Includes excellent tabular persentation of "Summary of Motor Applications" discussing pros-n-cons of all the various classes of DC, AC 2phs and AC 3phs motors re. speed control, speed regulation, starting and pull-out torque, and recommended applications: a TON of knowledge condensed into 4 pages which are worth the $15 price alone!This is NOT a book for those who want to learn what starting torque or speed regulation is, or who don't know the internal construction differences between a DC shunt and DC series motor, this is NOT a "here's the basics of electric motors" book. But if you've already been through a good introductory textbook (like Keljik's Electricity 4 AC/DC Motors, Controls and Maintenance) and are finding now that you're on the job that you don't really know how to apply all that basci knowledge and theory, get this book!

Handy, but not as well organized as it could be.

nice for when you can't bring a cell phone or laptop into a controlled area, but still need to have some type of reference.

I'm completely satisfied with this book because it's clear and concise with diagrams and examples that are easy to follow and use. It's invaluable for motor diagnostics and connections.
