Q: Do Ringneck doves eat this seed?

Both dove and pigeon eat this seed, and pig out on it. Since we're working to keep up the local songbird population this can be a problem :-) We don't have ringneck doves in our region, but based on the local dove and pigeon responses, this seed should be fine for them. Note: if you are feeding domesticated ringneck doves, I think you could find a seed or seed mix that would be more specifically tailored just for them - but in the wild, this seed mix should satisfy them along with other species.

Q: Would this work if mixed 50/50 with regular birdseed?

I would do 75/25 with the 75 being the sizzle n heat. I tried 50/50 and the squirrels went for it like it was regular seed. If you do mix, I recommend mixing VERY well and maybe add cayenne powder

Q: Is this ok to feed the daily chipmunks that skitter on the deck? We only want to deter the bad squirrels!

Thank you for your inquiry. Like squirrels, chipmunks are mammals and have sensitive capsaicin receptors that will also deter them from eating this product. We recommend feeding Sizzle N Heat to birds only.

Q: What is the expiration date for the seeds? The recent pack seems to have almost no pepper smell. Thanks.

I’ve never paid attention to the expiration date nor the pepper smell. While I have a couple squirrels that visit on my deck, they never touch the birdseed, what’s on the ground, nor the feeder. This birdseed attracts a nice variety of birds. I purchased a copy cat from Walmart, paid half the price but I also lost half the birds. I hope this helps.
