For the last year I've been playing the Akai EWI 5000. Mainly because you can use headphones while practicing. This has probably developed my embouchure enough to go on to the Alto Sax. As a result I haven't had any of the squeaks and shrikes that some beginners describe. I've had it about three weeks now and as others have stated; it will sound better if you buy a quality reed, I use Rico. And, my sound became much more mellow after purchasing a Yamaha 5c mouthpiece. I am 73 years old and was first chair trumpet in the high school band. Even after all these years I can still read music quite well. I really enjoy playing and hopefully it will keep my old brain in good shape since I learn something new every day. I love playing jazz standards and can play about a dozen songs by ear and I'm working through my old Arban book for trumpet to learn the notes as applied to the sax. To parents I would say that this horn is a cheap way for your child to prove to themselves and you that they are good enough to step up to that pro-model sax in a few years.

I don't know much about this instrument. I decided to buy one for my son for his band classes in school. After the local stores were out of the Alto Saxophones rental due to the high demand since it is the beginning of the school year. A rental for half the school year would be over $150 with insurance, etc and doesn't include reeds or mute.. I then looked into Amazon for the possibility of buying one, didn't want to spend a lot of money , and saw this one for $240. I purchased this based on reviews here and on youtube. I just gave it a shot. It is a beautiful instrument without a doubt and the quality seems good, again I NEVEAR held one in my hands or do I know anything about Saxophones, but I think it's worth just buying it rather than renting it. If you are me, a mom looking for a Saxophone for a beginner player, then I think you will not be disappointed.Update 10/14/19 , after hiring a private instructor I decided to return for a better quality one. The horn seems to be off and for a kid student who is learning to play it may lead them to think they are not hitting the right notes.

For the price, I would say it is a great purchase. Just to have an extra sax around that you don't care too much about it so nice. Like an old guitar that you bang around on, take camping, etc. This one plays just fine, but obviously, the upper and lower registers don't sound as good as on my Yanigasawa. Just can't get over the price for a playable sax like this brand new. There are some youtube video reviews of it that I watched before I purchased (still skeptically), but overall I am happy with the purchase. Definitely would not get as my primary sax, but as an extra, for sure!

Great for beginners, great tone, and build. The case is surprisingly good as well. It does not come with a swab, just 2 cheap cleaning clothes that leaves a lot of lint. When you do buy this, I highly recommend buying a better mouthpiece and reed. The ones that come with it are okay but you would be better off buying better ones, I bought a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and Vandoren reeds.Overall, great sax for the price, it'll last you years if you take good care care of it. It has some weight to it, so I assume the metal is of quality too. Do try it out.**Also plays consistently in tune**

For its price, an excellent instrument. I bought one for myself and another one for a student of mine - both work great. My student decided to stick with the included reeds in the beginning which was a mistake as his life changed for the better once he tried some Vandoren reeds instead. I bought a proper Yamaha mouthpiece with mine and have used it for a few months, even played it professionally in a few theatre shows and love the tone.

I followed the advice of Jay Metcalf on BetterSax.com and glad I did. This is everything Jay says it is and more for me. I am still a total novice but I am enjoying the journey and this sax has made it a joy! I love it!

This and others within price range are ok if you have a very tight budget. However, the playing, keys, and components are not that good of workmanship. I've had to return and purchase a different level of instrument.

El paquete llegó puntual y en buen estadoEs igual que en e anuncio, trae todo lo indicado en la descripción y bien empaquetado.Leyendo los otros comentarios tenía algúna duda ya que era para un regalo y que yo no entiendo de instrumentos musicales pero ayer se lo examinó el profesor y dijo que no estaba nada mal para iniciarse, que no le encontró nada grave y estuvo probándolo y dijo que sonaba aceptablemente que con el uso irá mejorando.Al parecer las lenguetas que trae son del 2, que èl prefiere las del 3, ahí lo dejo para quien se entere.En fin, que la relacion precio- calidad es buena. y yo me quedo más tranquila :D

Se puede comparar favorablemente con instrumentos que cuestan dos ó tres veces más. Excelente acabado y perfecto tal como sale de la caja. Lo que no me convenció para nada es la boquilla pero eso es fácil y barato de sustituir. La ligatura una autentica pena con trozos sueltos de metal. La lengueta premontada funciona bien pero las otras 10 que vienen en una cajita sólo tienen el valor de la madera. Total gastandome 50€ mas por la boquilla y ligatura tengo ahora un instrumento perfecto. La construcción es muy sólida, se ve que es una copia de la serie superior de Yamaha y bastante conseguida. Claro que no es lo mismo costando sólo el 5% de su precio.

Das Saxophon lässt sich gut spielen. Die Klappen schließen alle dicht und ich konnte auch sonst keinen defekt feststellen.Die Schelle des Mudstücks ist leider derart schlecht gebogen, dass ein anderes Mundstück genutzt werden sollte. Mit dem mitgelieferten ist es schwierig das Holz so zu positionieren, dass ein vernünftiges Spielen möglich ist.Auch sollte ein anderer Tragegurt genommen werden. Der mitgelieferte Gurt ist nicht gepolstert.

Compré este saxofón para comenzar mis estudios. Mi maestra me dice que el instrumento es increíble por el precio que cuesta. Gran inversión. Tengo dos semanas de uso. La funda y los accesorios, en general, son buenos, pero la boquilla y la caña son de mala calidad. (Hay que tener en cuenta que por lo que cuesta no podemos tener todo 100/100). Otro inconveniente fue que la grasa anunciada no estaba en el paquete recibido. La entrega fue rápida y perfecta.
