Works, can't beat the price.
I purchased this because I used the wrong bulb in one of my corded hanging lights that I like to use when working in poorly lighted areas, (under the car/hood, attic, basement) and I melted the old guard to hell. For almost the cost of most guards, I could buy an entire new hanging light. I don't like throwing working stuff away, and this worked perfectly. Fit perfectly and snuggly around the base of my lamp, and offers enough protection in case I accidently drop the light, or come in contact with a hot bulb. For my situation it works fine, I see that some people are buying this to protect a ceiling mounted bulb where their kids like to play indoor sports. It certainly won't suffice for that. If a fast moving ball of any type hits it, the bulb will not survive. Its plastic, and not super strong. You'd be better off buying a cage type (metal) bulb protector. This plastic is soft enough that it will protect the bulb from shattering if it is dropped, and will keep u from touching a hot bulb, but that's about it. You get what u pay for. At least I can use my hanging light again, what a great fix, at an excellent price. Happy to not have to replace a perfectly working lamp.

Poor quality but gets the job done
Very cheap quality, but gets the job done. If your use doesn’t demand a durable product (i.e. it just needs to be up and likely won’t get hit too frequently), then this is good enough. Our cage broke just trying to install it as plastic is super thin. But was able to get it installed and it’s good enough.

Fire hazzard!
I do NOT recommend these. I installed then on a house i sold after the inspection mentioned exposed bulbs in closet being a fire hazard and i thought this was a simple solution. Turns out it created the hazard i was attempting to fix! The new owner of the home texted me to say they were awakened by their fire alarm and this product turned out to the culprit! Where it clamped on to the fixture, it had begun to melt because one of the kids liked to sleep with closet light on and it overheated and began to melt in the middle of the night. Maybe i didnt get it mounted right or something, but even if i did, its not worth the risk regardless. Also, the bulb was LED which i didnt think got that hot but apparently, where it screws into the socket they can indeed get very hot! Avoid this peoduct!

Perfect for a basement playroom; easy installation!
After researching several light "guards", I chose these for our newly created basement playroom- not only were they the cheapest, but they fully protected the light bulb. Many I saw were open at the bottom, which makes changing light bulbs easier, but with three little boys and the chance of a ball or who knows what going straight up and shattering a light bulb, it was a risk I wasn't taking. These are plastic, but I am certain they will do the job. I bought three, the first installation had a partial re-do when I realized the screws on my light fixture were spaced further apart and I needed to turn the brackets around to have the wider opening. After that, the next two installations were a breeze- my husband was impressed with my skills :) I know these will withstand lots of flying objects.

Includes Adapters for All Keyless Porcelain Fixtures
I bought these because I wanted to protect my current exposed attic bulbs from being broken. My porcelain fixtures didn't have collars to accept this product's attachment so I also bought new fixtures. WOW! This product comes with adapters to use with my current fixtures. I didn't need to buy new ones. [I also wanted pull-chain switches and receptacle so I got them anyway] My point is - and alert to future buyers - these replacement guards have adapters that will fit to porcelain fixtures even if those fixtures do not have the collar around the bulb thread. Nice.

Note that this is plastic - pros and cons
I did not realize this was plastic, and not metal. However, that is not all bad as it will give a bit if you accidentally bump into it - so I ended up using it. It happens to be in a tight space were an aggressive move would be unlikely. That being said, if you think someone might walk into the light bulb at a significant clip, you might opt instead for a metal one.
