CarharttMen's Gilliam Jacket

I recently purchased the Carhartt Men's Rain Defender Relaxed Fit Lightweight Insulated Jacket, and it has exceeded all my expectations. The quality of this jacket is top-notch, with durable materials that stand up to any weather condition. The fit of the jacket is pretty good, it does fall onto the hand a bit, but that can be fixed with the adjustable cuff, which is an amazing addition. I also love the many pockets in the jacket and the slightly loose fit, allowing you to layer underneath. I wore it in 30 degree weather and it works well with a sweater underneath. It is waterproof and works well when dealing with wind. It really is a great all-rounder jacket, also suitable for mild winters with a t-shirt underneath. I like it.

This is my second purchase of the jacket because I liked the first so much. The warmth to weight ratio is very good. There are a couple improvements that could be made, but overall it's a very good jacket. I'm not crazy about the velcro sleeve opening cinches. They don't allow the sleeves to be tightened down quite enough in my opinion. The material is fairly durable, but I did catch my old one on something and tore it. That's kind of the price for being as light weight as it is in my opinion though. It's still wearable. Downgraded to a work jacket.

This jacket is lightweight but perfect for layering to address many changes in the weather. Bought it specifically for a trip where I knew there would be a wide range of temperatures. Totally worth it and in a color that I really like and is not usually found (sort of a light chestnut brown). Definitely a great purchase and LOTs of secure pocket space.

This jacket is super comfortable and tough. I’ve worn this jacket on job sites, in the cold, rain, snow, wind and ice. It’s the perfect size to wear a hoodie under and doesn’t feel tight anywhere and the adjustable cuffs are perfect when I need my sleeves not to fall below my wrist. It’s toug too. I’ve caught it on nails and fallen down in it and still no tears. Been wearing it through the winter. Great for wind and precipitation. You can wear this jacket on the job or out an about. Looks great too.

My husband really likes this jacket and the matching vest. He has 2 of each. They make a great layering pair as they are light weight by themselves, and fit well, pockets are in the right places and all have held up well with the exception of the zippers which are failing by opening up at the bottom when any kind of pull motion/force to side occurs. How about putting a higher quality zippers on them. Even if that results in a higher price point (i.e., YK or other). Don't have these types of issues say with Carhartt work pants for example.

Warm, water resistant and not bulky. Nice fitting jacket for the cost. Always a solid brand.
